Bling

Blings are wearable jewellery which endow the user with magical powers. They are dropped by Bling Wraiths, and found in Treasure Chests.

Note: Blings wear out, usually a 1:1000 chance each turn, so remember to unequip them when you are done. Moreover each type of bling you have in your posession increases the damage you take from a bling wraith by 5, so dump those blings you don't need at the first opportunity. (The number of blings is calculated separately for worn blings and those in your inventory - if you're wearing one Gold Bling and holding another, it counts as two.)

Bling Bling can be made by Armourers. Some other types of bling can be made after having completed the Goodyear Pimp quest.

Types

Bling Bling Pimp Fashion 5

You can ring it. "Bling Bling!"

Certain people (ask an armourer) can make it too. Syagrius 16:00, 27 September 2006 (BST)

Serves as the base for making other types of bling.

It's worth noting that the Bling Bling was originally added as a throwaway joke, when bicycles/tandems were being considered. Only much later was the Bling Bling given its current function as a base for building other blings. Darksatanic

Bling of Fire Pimp Fashion 1

Makes you feel a bit warmer. For example, wearing a Bling of Fire on a desert square takes you from a tiny bit warm to a bit warm.

Can be made from 4 Mana, 5 Fire Stones, and a Bling Bling after completing the appropriate quest.

Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire:

Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery bling
Bound by wild desire
I fell into a Bling of Fire
I fell into a burning Bling of Fire
I went down, down, down, and the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns
The Bling of Fire, the Bling of Fire...

Dammit, whoever wrote this has alot to answer for. Any time my honey or my good self dons the burning bling of fire, I sing this ALL DAY LONG!!

I fell in....
Burns burns burns....
Arrgh.... Chlamydia
(burns burns burns)

Blame Dragon :) - Alberta 11:21, 15 December 2007 (GMT)

Bling of Ice Pimp Fashion 1

Makes you colder (went from neutral temp to "really cold" on putting it on).

Can be made from 4 Mana, 10 Snowballs, and a Bling Bling after completing the appropriate quest.

And what would be the purpose of getting colder? Agzu 14:05, 2 June 2006 (BST)
Walking in the desert or the fire swamp for an extended period? Syagrius 14:09, 2 June 2006 (BST)
Yeah, I guess so.. Didn't think about that (: And still.. Agzu 15:36, 4 June 2006 (BST)
I don't know of any downside to getting overheated. I had the highest hot setting for a few hundred AP and nothing bad happened. Kaos Dragon 05:19, 4 August 2006 (BST)
Has anyone tested walking over Dangerous paths in the desert with one on? Azuaron 16:39, 11 November 2007 (GMT)
You can probably use one of these to stop your ice cubes/snowballs from melting, and to refreeze pints of water into cubes.--LimeHan 21:21, 24 September 2008 (BST)

Diamond Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Gives the ability to see invisible monsters.

Wore out while wandering around. Flt 12:13, 3 October 2006 (BST)

Can be made from 12 Mana, 5 Diamonds, and a Bling Bling after completing the appropriate quest.

Emerald Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Like a Magic Emerald, when worn it highlights monsters who have killed players with a little skull and crossbones.

Can be made from 8 Mana, 5 Magic Emeralds and a Bling Bling after completing the appropriate quest.

Feathered Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Allows you to fly. 72.240.132.75 12:36, 3 April 2006 (BST)

Do elaborate, please. Fly where? I've noticed no AP difference in movement andno ability to fly over monsters. Billz8 15:21, 16 April 2006 (BST)

Functions as an equippable Climbing Gear; i.e. you can get to the top of Crags or Mountains. The AP cost is the same as if you used Climbing Gear. jvsclps 00:52, 21 April 2006 (BST)

So it's effectively Daedalus Wings that cause bling wraiths to hit you harder. BlaisedeC 19:04, 9 June 2006 (BST)

Can be made from 8 Mana, a Bling Bling and 100 Feathers after completing the appropriate quest.

Ghastly Bling Pimp Fashion 1

All monsters are hostile while you wear this bling.

Can be made from 8 Mana, 5 Cruel Blades and a Bling Bling after completing the appropriate quest.

Gold Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Reduces AP costs to 1/(1 + number of Gold Blings worn) with a minimum AP cost of 1. (AP costs are currently reported without the discount.)

Gold blings may wear out on any AP spending, not just movement.

NOTE: the buttons may not change to reflect the AP cost reduction
Do Gold Blings reduce AP costs BY 1/(1 + # Gold Blings) or TO 1/(1 + # Gold Blings)? For instance, if I've got three Gold Blings and a (normally) 12 AP action, if the Gold Blings reduce it by 1/4, that's 9 AP, but if they reduce it to 1/4, that's 3 AP. Azuaron 14:16, 26 September 2007 (BST)
They reduce it TO 1/X. I was using two while making talismans, and it was costing me 33ap. [until one burned out .. ouch] Rembrandt
erm... 1/(1+X). So half off for the first bling, 2/3rds off for the second, 3/4s off for the third. TO 1/1+ X)density 15:23, 26 September 2007 (BST)

Gold blings no longer work in Monasteries. It now says:

The monks, being an ascetic order, refuse to accept you into the monastry until you have renounced your materialism, and taken off all your bling.

-Greycat 16:20, 1 January 2009 (GMT)

Healing Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Gives you 1HP per AP spent. Does not take you over your max HP.

Like Gold Blings, will now break on any AP spending.

Horizontal Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Gives Longitude.

A Horizontal and Vertical Bling can together be made from 8 Mana, a GPS and a Bling Bling after completing the appropriate quest.

Iron Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Reduces the damage you take by 1/(1 + number of Iron Blings worn), from both combat and envrionment.

The damage is rounded down to the nearest integer. For example, 5 points of damage is reduced to 2HP. If the monster attacks multiple times per round, then the calculation is done per attack. For example, a Roc hitting you 4 times will reduce your HP by 8 (4x2), and not 10 (4x5/2).

Iron Blings can only wear out when shielding the wearer from damage. This means that it's now safe to wear one while walking.

Major Healing Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Increases your HP by 3*(number of M.H.Blings worn) for each AP spent. Does not take you over your max HP.

Try using a bandage with one of these on for 25hp :D Z0ltar 14:26, 9 July 2006 (BST)

Like Gold Blings, will now break on any AP spending.

Mercury Bling Pimp Fashion 1

It's like a thermometer. Reads temperature of your current location.

Misril Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Reduces AP cost of mining - 18 AP without spade, 12 AP with -- Thog 21:15, 28 March 2006 (BST)

Misril - similar to mithril? Could come in handy in a fight.

The Dwarves in Middle Earth have lisps. The Cities Dwarves take the pith out of them for that... Darksatanic 14:23, 23 March 2006 (GMT)

Multiple Misril Blings continue to reduce the AP cost of mining, presumably following the same 1/(1 + number of Blings worn) pattern as Gold and Iron blings. Ravensdance 18:23, 22 June 2006 (BST)

Counting a Spade as a Misril Bling; Gold Blings reduce the cost separately. So Spade + 2 Misril + 2 Gold gets 3 AP (36 / (1+1+2) / (1+2)). BlaisedeC 18:28, 22 June 2006 (BST)
Mines also seem to count separately: Spade + 2 Misril + Mine = 4 AP ((36/(1+1+2))/2 rounded down?). Ravensdance 21:15, 22 June 2006 (BST)

Can wear out by simply walking--Solune 10:57, 22 January 2007 (GMT)

Moon Stone Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Gives off illumination (Glowing) after 20:00 and before 5:00.

Don't know what time it stops glowing. Still alight after 23:00. Darksatanic 23:09, 23 March 2006 (GMT)
Even while glowing, it only works as a light source if you're wearing it. If you merely wield it, dark squares remain dark, and you still get "It's a bit dark though!" at caves with holes. Presumably, Sun Stone Bling works the same way. Random4518 03:40, 9 August 2006 (BST)
It's possible for both Moon Stone Bling and Sun Stone Bling to be glowing at the same time. It's happening right now, since about 8:40 PM in-game time. Presumably from 8 to 9 they both glow. Random4518 20:46, 19 September 2006 (BST)

Can be made from 8 Mana and a Bling Bling after completing the appropriate quest.

Racing Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Given to participants in the Royal Race Around the World. Doesn't do anything any more.

During the race (and for some time after) you couldn't unequip your racing bling, nor could you be summoned while wearing one.--LimeHan 21:20, 24 September 2008 (BST)
Intriguing - While trying to assemble Pimp-Military, the Racing Bling put even a smaller number of Pimp points into the primary slot despite overwhelming Military points against it. Wearing a Lucky Ring-Pull (pimp bling) without the Racing Bling returned the mathematics of the situation to normal. S. Mackie 08:51, 15 March 2009 (GMT)

Ruby Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Like a Magic Ruby, it lets you see other players' health when worn.

Can be made from 4 Mana, a Magic Ruby, and a Bling Bling after completing the appropriate quest.

Onyx Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Darkens your vision completely. Doesn't seem to help against snowblindness – even right Up North, squares go directly from "too bright" to "dark".

You can see through an Onyx Bling's darkness with a light source. Multiple Onyx Bling are cumulative, requiring more light to see through the darkness. Random4518 17:37, 14 September 2006 (BST)
is this helpful against the gorgan perhaps? 68.3.85.88 05:39, 22 September 2006 (BST)

Wearing it greatly reduces the loading time at a party--Solune 22:31, 19 February 2007 (GMT)

Protects your eyes against the Arctic Undine's blinding flash when worn while attacking. -- Sertularian 14:22, 25 December 2007 (GMT)

Ooops. No, it does not. (Ouch.) -- Sertularian 14:45, 8 March 2008 (GMT)

Opal Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Like a Magic Opal, when worn it shows the hitpoints of nearby monsters.

Can be made from 12 Mana, a Magic Opal, and a Bling Bling after completing the appropriate quest.

Spring Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Don't know what it does yet. Can be made from 5 Springs, 50 Mana, and a Fiend Skull. No fiend skull found yet to test out bling.

Once equipped, can't be removed. - Isambard 05:38, 25 January 2009 (GMT)

Sun Stone Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Glows during daytime. Also gives an intrinsic ability to know North/South position, and approximate time of day. MrFoo 15:11, 29 March 2006 (BST)

Can be made from 4 Mana, a Sun Stone and a Bling Bling after completing the appropriate quest.

The One Bling Pimp Fashion 1

The only bling with two effects. Becomes invisible and gives free passages without fighting most monsters.

Monsters that can still see you: Downers, Dragons, Grues, Mirror Monsters, Morrisseys, Vampires, Tripods, normal Cats (haven't checked Ferals yet)

Monsters that (oddly) *cannot* see you: Bling Wraiths

However, it makes a really bad fashion statement when worn with a hat.

Does it increase movement cost, like other sources of invisibility? If so, by how much? Also, as I understand, dragons can see through invisibility. Can they see through The One Bling's invisibility, or is it special? Random4518 23:06, 20 February 2006 (GMT)
As far as i know, it does not increases your movement cost like other sources of invisibility. I would say The One bling is a special one whereas it could deceives the dragons' eyes. e.bstan 01:04, 21 February 2006 (GMT)
It makes sense. Dragons can see through illusions, but this isn't illusion-based. Presumably, blingwraiths can also see you. There might be others. Ghosts, demons, undead, etc. Random4518 11:54, 21 February 2006 (GMT)
Yes. If dragons let you pass, that is because of your experince points that allow you to do so, not because of the bling i would say. 202.75.152.33
Confirmed. I'm wearing The One Bling, can the Small Water Dragon still wants to fight me, though other monsters that normally want to fight me, don't. -Orky 22:08, 21 March 2006 (GMT)

I'm a little confused. What's the difference between becoming invisible and giving free passage without fighting? Are you invisible to other players? Or do you mean that you can see invisible monsters (In testing I notice that it does give you see invisible)? Also I don't get any message about my hat, when I put it on. Hendsch 13:43, 7 March 2006 (GMT)

  • From extensive testing - The One Bling turns you invisible. You will see invisible monsters and other invisible players. It costs you 2 HP per move! Movement costs (AP) remain the same - it costs no more or less than normal movement. Vampires will still want to fight. Dragons cannot see you -- I tested this one in particular. They would fight if I took it off, but I walked right by them with it on. Syagrius 19:22, 15 March 2006 (GMT)
    • I am wearing The One Bling, and an AIR DEMON wants to fight me (other monsters don't) even though I'm [invisible]. I guess he can see me, and he doesn't like my fashion style.
  • I think the HP cost may actually be 2 x the AP cost of any action. I practised the Accordion whilst wearing it and lost 10HP :-( Chad 10:46, 26 March 2006 (BST)
If you are wearing more than One Bling, each does damage, so: damage=2*AP cost*One Blings worn. -Scrumbucket 19:47, 26 June 2007 (BST)
  • Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I assume there is more than one "One Bling"? Melchitt 3:00, 24 March 2006 (GMT)
    • Think it's safe to say yes, unless Syragius and Orky have lost theirs (I just picked one up) -- Durkon 03:15, 28 April 2006 (BST)
Mine is gone - I traded it to e.bstan a while back. Syagrius 03:17, 28 April 2006 (BST)
I have another One Bling. -- Sertularian 04:07, 28 April 2006 (BST)

I just noticed that when wearing The One Bling, using a Clean Bandage has no effect on your health! - Orky 23:43, 31 March 2006 (BST)

Makes sense, since you lose 2x the AP cost and when you're an MD you gain 10HP by using 5AP ie 2x the ap cost.... Z0ltar 15:04, 23 June 2006 (BST)
Which, in turn, means you really don't want to "full-heal" yourself with a dragon stone while wearing the One Bling. :) Syagrius 15:12, 23 June 2006 (BST)
If you wear it until your HP reach 0 do you become a bling wraith?
No, you end up in Water City Hospital.
You also might consider not leaving yourself wearing it while on call. I just did this at Sert's party and rapidly ended up in hospital. STILL wearing the Bling, STILL on call, and more people had asked for healing since. jmb 22:58, 9 December 2006 (GMT)

I'm spirit aligned, and wearing one does not allow me to pass by large living tars, rock trolls, or mirror monsters -- unless the monster (large living tar was tested) is also spirit aligned. -Greycat 16:22, 24 September 2008 (BST)

Vertical Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Gives latitude.

A Horizontal and Vertical Bling can together be made from 8 Mana, a GPS and a Bling Bling after completing the appropriate quest.

Watch Bling Pimp Fashion 1

Gives an intrinsic ability to know the time.

Can be made from 4 Mana, a Pocket Watch, and a Bling Bling after completing the appropriate quest.

Wedding Ring

Not Bling, but a Ring. Given to a certain couple at their wedding party by 'King Elseware. Doesn't wear out or break. No special (in-game) benefit noticed, though a particular lady is tickled pink everytime she thinks that someone she doesn't know spent time to code them in for our wedding :)
