Ore of any kind can be mined from mountains, crags, and outcroppings after completing the Treasure Hunt quest. Ironically enough, a Glass Sword is necessary for this quest; Glass Swords are made using Ancient Wood, which drops from Treemen, which are best killed by a Copper Axe, which in turn requires mining. Oh, the creators must be laughing their heads off...

All metals are smelted from ore of the same type, creating 100 bits of metal per ore.

This costs Fire 4AP (20AP for 10 ores), plus 4 Units of Charcoal per ore.

Similarly, a Nail may be formed from 10 bits of most metals, for Fire 1AP.
