Put new bugs at the top of the page.

Please check the page before reporting your bug -- someone else may already have reported it (or something like it). Also check the Won't Fix list for things that are known about and (probably) won't get fixed.

Report Spelling Mistakes on their own page. Maybe someone will have an anal day and fix some of them.

Note that palantiring the admins is generally likely to get less of a response than posting here. We read the RecentChanges of the wiki frequently, and it's quite possible to miss seeing a "you have a palantir message" whilst playing. You should probably only use the palantirs if there's something that really needs to be kept secret.
Note also that carmilla.ecs.soton.ac.uk, and cities.totl.net are one and the same machine. All bugs visible on one will be visible on the other. If you have a problem with one but not the other, try disabling all GreaseMonkey scripts, and check the DNS.

Schrödinger's Corpse

I mean, I suppose I'm not exactly complaining, but I don't seem to have died properly...

That is, my new character Judge Judy, forgot to watch her HP while fighting a perky n0rx, and died... or did she? She woke up in fire city, with the message that the monster had nicked all her stuff, So I logged out, logged in as Jos A Wapner, and ran off to slay the beast. After a short wander through the interior, he came across... Judge Judy! a doppelganger? she had only 6 hp, and was standing right next to the same perky n0rx that "killed" her. Well, Wapner slayed the beast, and retrieved a corpse of Judge Judy. Logging in as Judy, I find myself in the spot where Wapner found her, with, apparently all of Judy's belonging still intact, and in her inventory. Yet Wapner is holding Judy's CORPSE, which ALSO has all of her items... A quick check shows that her one and only minrilax "Irony" appears both in her corpse, and equipped by Judy herself. So... I guess her inventory just doubled! I'm not even sure what will happen if she re-aquires that minrilax from her corpse, given it's unique item ID#; will she have two? or will it collapse into a single entity? What happens if one character equips one instance of the minrilaxe, while another uses the other? or is that even possible? If Wapner removes it from her corpse, will it dissappear from judy's inventory? So many questions... AmishRobots 07:54, 17 June 2018 (BST)

I now seem to have a "Quantum Minrilax" AmishRobots 08:13, 17 June 2018 (BST)

Beeswax discrepancy

Using Lump of Beeswax does not consume the stated 1AP. --Plopfill 16:05, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

The same goes for Ball Mill. --Plopfill 16:10, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

Error message produced on Monster Island

When I move south on Monster Island, I get this error message.

Something has gone horribly wrong (server error)! Either it's a bug in the code, or we are currently experiencing 'King fiddling time.
Please remain seated with your seatbelts fastened for the time being, and post a bug report to the wiki if the problem recurs.

(The message does not actually have a line break, but I split it up to stop it from exceeding the boundary of the page.)

Talismans etc Don't Work

Thought i might mention the thing about talis/other modes of travel not working. Sure, its been mentioned elsewhere, but hey, maybe reporting it here will get something done/explained about it? Ah, who knows? AmishRobots 08:09, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

Vanishing AP

At least some of us are seeing our AP drop unexpectedly. Isambard has reported AP going from positive to negative AP overnight (and then even further into negative AP), and when I've logged in, I've seen my AP drop dramatically the first time I take an action. I didn't check how much AP I had before the first time I ran into the problem, but I dropped from positive AP to -31 AP on trying to hit the monster next to me with a Rusty Sword, and on logging in again just now I started at 759 AP which dropped to 215 AP after actually managing to hit a monster once with that Rusty Sword. Actions after that are costing the amount of AP I'd expect. So there's some large negative adjustments happening at login (pets imbibing nutritious air costing a lot of AP, maybe?). Help? Ravensdance 23:23, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

This problem did not occur again on login today. Ravensdance 22:30, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
Does this always seem to happen on login after time has passed or can it happen while playing interactively? I'll try and investigate further. --Ra 23:12, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
The two times I saw it happen, it was the first time I spent AP after logging in--in both cases, on an action of trying to hit a monster with a Rusty Sword. It hasn't happened either time I've logged in today. I haven't seen it happen while playing interactively either, but I wasn't watching for it until that first time I saw it dropped me unexpectedly into negative AP, and with tens of thousands of AP initially when the game came back up, there'd have been plenty of room for AP to vanish without my noticing. So I can't say for sure it doesn't happen interactively. Ravensdance 00:19, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
I lost almost 9k AP overnight, but the amount seems to have stabilized with over 17K right now though Syagrius 02:05, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
The first time logging in since Cities has been back. Took the Compensation Basket out of my inventory as the first thing I did, and found myself at -2037 AP -- 271 hours until I can do something (as BruceStark). BlaisedeC 22:38, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
Once he went positive I had him step south and he went from ~100 AP positive to ~30 AP negative. After he regained that AP (and was no longer on the center Limbo space), the effect stopped happening (and he stopped losing hit points to his poisoning). BlaisedeC 05:02, 7 April 2012 (BST)
Per the request on IRC that was passed on to the Current Events page, the first occurrence for BruceStark was around 22:00 UTC on 24 March 2012. The second occurrence was around 02:30 UTC 6 March 2012. BruceStark is the only one of my alts that has seen this problem. BlaisedeC 05:47, 7 April 2012 (BST)
Today I logged in with around -2300AP. - Isambard 06:09, 10 April 2012 (BST)
Just now (1:15pm game time) I fed my goldfish and it took 72AP instead of one.... --Dragon 13:17, 10 April 2012 (BST)
Happened again now (2:19am game time). Fed my goldfish, cost at *least* 120AP. Immediately afterwards I switched weapons to a Spear of Odin, which cost me another 120. --Dragon 02:21, 11 April 2012 (BST)
Seems to happen just about *every* time I check. shupeti currently at -1164 from maxAP from attacking a rat with a wand. beata at -3149 from maxAP just by hitting 'Play' a second time. --Beata 16:53, 11 April 2012 (BST)
5:02am game time today (12 Apr), lost 247AP feeding my goldfish twice (using Repeat Action). Might have lost some just before that (4:59 or so) but didn't remember to check my AP beforehand. --Dragon 05:22, 12 April 2012 (BST)
Lost 440AP from feeding my dragon, 5:07am today (Apr 14). Then 440 more immediately afterward (repeat-action 2xfeed, cost 442AP; should have cost 2AP). --Dragon 05:12, 14 April 2012 (BST)
Just now (2012-04-14 09:09 BST). Logged in, was at 759 AP (max) finally after going into massive negatives the last time I logged in. Switched items, and was suddenly at -1276 AP. Oh, and the time until AP above zero indicator is claiming it'll take 14891 hours, which is... slightly off. Ravensdance 09:15, 14 April 2012 (BST)
Just now - switched to a weapon I'm making and lost ... didn't do the math, but I've lost 10k AP in the last 2 days without moving around or doing actions that would cost that kind of AP. Syagrius 12:54, 14 April 2012 (BST)
OK, just now - 9:26pm (UTC -6) I practiced my viol (5ap) and went from 7977ap to 6632 in one single click. Syagrius 03:28, 16 April 2012 (BST)
Lost 921AP feeding Puff again. 2:41pm today (16 April). --Dragon 15:09, 16 April 2012 (BST)
Lost 119AP feeding my goldfish, then another 119 feeding my dragon, 4:03am 17 April. It seems to commonly happen in chunks of 120AP.... --Dragon 04:05, 17 April 2012 (BST)
Hmmmm. It seems to trigger on the first two actions I take after being idle for a while, but not on any actions after that. Has anyone else noticed this pattern? --Dragon 04:18, 17 April 2012 (BST)
I haven't noticed that pattern Dragon, though to be honest, I wasn't paying attention to that. What I HAVE noticed is I lose AP just switching active items. I want to practice my viol *poof* lost a ton of AP switching to it from whatever else I was holding at the time (wow, that sounds... bad) - Anyway, I'm down over 13K AP from standing in one place. Syagrius 00:39, 18 April 2012 (BST)
Lost 620AP, and then 120AP on the next action, 1:40pm today (19 April). Feeding pets again. Still seems to fit the pattern where AP is lost with just the first two actions. --Dragon 13:44, 19 April 2012 (BST)
Lost 1578AP reloading the page, 5:38am today (23 April). Then 146AP feeding Puff at 5:40am. --Dragon 05:43, 23 April 2012 (BST)
Went from full AP (625-ish) to -925 by performing one action, just now. Total AP lost since restoration of the game is now in excess of 29K ap. Syagrius 19:38, 29 April 2012 (BST)
Just lost about 1800AP making a Bottle of Cheap Axel Rose. I assume it's the game's way of saying I should be focussing more on finals.--Nuru nuru 06:25, 2 May 2012 (BST)
Just checked in again and now I'm at -3516AP. It would seem that even doing nothing can have quite an effect. --Nuru nuru 04:42, 9 May 2012 (BST)
Just logged in for the first time in a week or two (kept timing out before) -- says I'm at -3616ap and I haven't DONE anything in 2 weeks. Syagrius 13:53, 13 May 2012 (BST)
UPDATE: I'm fairly certain this is caused by some weird interplay of the pet code and the AP code. If you can get on, try un-equipping your pets and see if the effect ceases. It seems that the AP loss is greater the longer you don't play. Your pets won't die as they're still auto-feeding and will remain so until this gets fixed. If you're so out-of-AP that it's stupid, get in touch with me and I'll do something about it for you. AndyLandy 10:24, 11 June 2012 (BST)
After a week-long outage, I finally got Cities to load this morning, and I was at -2392 AP, despite not having done anything for a real-life week. Then I clicked "Are we there yet?" and when it loaded again, I was at -864 AP. So, third time's a charm, right? Clicked again, but I'm still at -864 AP. Maybe when our pets eat the air, the game charges us hundreds of AP? That's all I can think of. I literally did not and could not do anything during the period the game was unresponsive. --Greycat 13:51, 22 May 2012 (BST)
I recently dropped out in Limbo. Logged in to check my AP status... it said: 'Current Action Points: -72642402' and '8474947 hours and 0 minutes and 13 seconds until AP above zero'. I don't think I can wait 8474947 hours, could some GL please reset my AP to zero? --Liquid 20:46, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Very slow. Very.

Not sure if this is a bug, but I feel a need to complain somewhere :) Is it just me, or the game play became as slow as a sleeping slug after the fix? It takes ages to log in and to do anything, the joy of playing is gone... I tried from different computers and on multiple occasions - it's always the same. Just because I'm in Sweden, does not mean I'm slow! Agzu 15:18, 9 May 2012 (BST)

I can't even get in right now - it times out. Syagrius 04:21, 13 May 2012 (BST)
As I've said elsewhere, I've had that problem on one character since a couple of days after I first got back on; on another it doesn't even time out, just sits and spins. The remaining three work, just slowly. --BlaisedeC 03:32, 14 May 2012 (BST)

Lost AP - Just Checking

Quick census of browser, scripts, &c: I don't know if it would make any difference.

Firefox 11.0, greasemonkey, GCS, 'tater's stuff. --Beata 08:08, 15 April 2012 (BST)
Firefox 11.0, greasemonkey with no scripts installed --BlaisedeC 14:54, 16 April 2012 (BST)
Midori 0.4, some subtle differences. w3m 0.5.2, other subtleties. --Beata 10:57, 22 April 2012 (BST)
Firefox 7.0, greasemonkey with about 4 Cities scripts enabled. Lost AP, gained it back, lost it again... insane. This morning when I was less than an hour away from getting 1 AP again, I disabled all of the Cities scripts, and then (an hour later) I was able to do things. --Greycat 15:10, 15 May 2012 (BST)
Opera 11.64, no scripts. Also noticing that my mana has also stopped regenerating completely --Bel3338 23:00, 17 May 2012 (BST)
Wait, what? You're able to play the game? I haven't been able to connect, from work or from home, for about 3 days. The connection times out. I thought it was down for everyone, and people were just too polite to say anything about it. --Greycat 13:29, 18 May 2012 (BST)
Well, it wasn't working for a few days, then Tuesday or Wednesday it started working again. It was still working last night; now it's down again. --BlaisedeC 02:50, 19 May 2012 (BST)

XML interface not working

Requesting info.xml gets "'king fiddling time"; mall.xml gets "Connection reset by server". BlaisedeC 22:07, 7 April 2012 (BST)

On a related note, the Monster League table is getting "Connection reset by server", and the Other League tables are omitting some characters (for example, BruceStark is not showing up). BlaisedeC 23:55, 8 April 2012 (BST)

Exceedingly slow refresh

Cities is responding to HTTP requests incredibly slowly; it sometimes takes 5 minutes to get a page to load. This makes some parts of the game unusable (for example, Tube travel - you can't e
