Guard song

Let it be known that Guard Tank will pay 5000GP to the composer of the best City Guard song. The song should be suitable for the guards to sing during their drinking sessions and should be fun to sing. It doesn't matter if you portray us in a negative light, as long as it's funny. Suggestions for themes: (1) making us out to be thugs (2) what we look like (big, fat and mean and covered in armour and our famous helmet) (3) what we do (see below). Winner to be chosen in three weeks (16th October 2006) Tank 08:43, 25 September 2006 (BST)

Oh yes PlanetNiles 11:41, 29 October 2006 (GMT)

These are all fantastic songs. Qazxcv's song reminds me of some other song I may have heard of before, while PlanetNiles' should be the official anthem of the guards, and Zoological's should be the official drinking song. I think you're all cool for writing these songs, so I'll give 5000GP to you all. Now, it's just a case of working out where to meet in-game so I can hand it over. Thanks for taking part though, your songs were all far better than I had expected. Tank 11:10, 30 October 2006 (GMT)

The FLU party (starts around the 6th) should be good, it's 2 squares west of the Swap Shop in Water City. --Qazxcv 01:43, 31 October 2006 (GMT)

Guard Announcements

  • [19 Sep 06]: All guards are requested to attend the Woodstock festival to police the event and stop those damn hippies having fun. Bring your armour - it could get nasty. Tank 09:55, 19 September 2006 (BST)
  • We also got a nice pic up top. Who put it there? --Qazxcv 01:41, 23 November 2006 (GMT)

  • Protecting the king's mushrooms.
  • Poking passers by? (that's what the other guards do).
  • Hanging out in guard towers and chatting to other players.
  • Looking real mean.

You get to wear a cool Guard's Helmet in the game, which doesn't actually have any bonus other than looking cool. However, bear in mind that this means you can't be summoned - a guard's armour is too heavy for the magic of a standard summon stone. Also, you can't give your helmet to others.
Also, you gain no benefit from cloaks or clocks of invisibility. I have found that if you need to get past a monster that a Kraken Piece can work (for instance, bypassing the demons in the bombadiers cave)--Gretchin 02:34, 29 January 2007 (GMT)

  6. jmb - Joined 20th September 2006, but I resign. I've had it with these stinkin' hippies, and am off to join the real army. Where do I hand in my (still shiny) Guard's Helmet?

If you would like to join, please put your name here, along with a brief summary of what makes you suitable for the position. Note that the Guards are not at all selective about who they admit to their ranks, it's just a bit of fun.

  • rockefellow - I can look very menacing if I want (although I seem to be one you'd call a fashion victim). I want to sign up to the guards 'cause my daddy told me so to start a great carreer as the first City Guards Armourer - besides, you could really use one of those.
  • Eruantion - I, Sir, have heard of you, Sir, and I, Sir, thought it would be good and that Sir, if, Sir, I was to be a guard Sir. I've always enjoyed poking people, and generally standing aound and looking important. Sir. When I was younger, (sir) I deamt of being a Guard... you know, standing there, shiny helmet, looking proud, poking people, protecting 'king from... er... stuff... *ahem* Do let me join, Sir! I'll be really good, Sir! I won't do anything naughty! (Sir!)

Kudos to the Guards

I wish to thank the City Guards for their excellent crowd control methods during the Woodstock festival. I will send each festival guard one Kudos, and one extra Kudos to Qazxcv (funny name, Mexican is it?) for the heroic action of slaying three! of the Polychromatic Dragons threatening the Woodstock festival. I will recommend future party arrangers to hire security staff from the City Guards.

It's not Mexican --Qazxcv 23:47, 25 September 2006 (BST)

One sad incident occurred during the Woodstock festival when a Polychromatic Dragon managed to slay young Earl Yitscar before it was dispatched by Duke density, but the City Guards can not be blamed for any breach in security. Polychromatic Dragons are notorious for being attracted to big crowds and loud music, they have even been spotted within Windy City during the last Open Mic Night. --TerrorRemedy

I think it was Yitscar, or something like that, not Yendor?
Yes, Yendor is a great lord, I doubt he will need help any day --Yitscar21:40, 27 September 2006 (BST)
