Mountains of the Son Mountains of the Son Mountains of the Son
Its the 21st century. From all over the Kingdom, great ships sail South to conquer the new world. The men eager to seek their fortune, to find new adventures and new lands. They long to cross uncharted seas and discover unknown countries. To find secret gold on a mountain trail high in the Andes. They dream of following the path of the setting sun that leads to...

This is a reference to this show.

The Mysterious City of Gold and Lead (Also a reference to tripods) is located inside the Mountains of the Son in the Oz interior.

How to get there

  • There is a spiraling mountain trail leading to it that starts on the southern edge of the Mountains of the Son at 53E 262S DSSGCM and makes two complete circuits. The easiest way to get to the foot of the trail is via the Order of the Wyrm teleporter.
  • The trail is guarded by Tripods and Venemous Eyes, as well as more common monsters.
  • The Trail is also very cold, and GPS does not work. Once inside the Mysterious City of Gold and Lead, it is quite warm.
a pair of gloves, socks, a good jumper and a proper scarf will keep you warm enough
note that the second level of the trail is at least two levels colder than the first
  • Talismans cannot be enchanted in the city or on the trail.
  • You cannot summon people here, under normal circumstances.

Things to do

  • Mendoza's - Sells Golden Guns for 20000, Treasure Chests for 50000, Goldfish Eggs for 20000, flake shakers for 250
  • Your standard general store (named E.steban's), healer (St. Elsewares), trading post (Hall of Swapping), tavern (Stags Head), and an Empty Lot
  • The Golden Condor, which is terrain (not a vehicle) you can actually get in and fly around... if it's there.
  • The Golden Condor Control Room allows you to steer the craft from afar, confounding anyone who may be inside at the time.
The control room is currently out of order.
I was able to use it today. Flt 00:10, 29 May 2007 (BST)
The control room doesn't seem to be there any more. I guess it's permanently (?) broken. Fraggle 13:43, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

Control Room

Entering the Control Room for 1AP lets you control the condor while remaining in the City. The usual terrain viewport is replaced by a 19x15 map centred around the condor's location, and a panel provides duplicate controls.

It is not possible to steal hats from people hanging out in the control room. --Kenndogg 15:48, 19 September 2007 (BST)

Notes

Hmm, "The Mysterious City of Gold and Lead" isn't showing up on my list of Visits. Is this intentional? -- greycat 13:31, 8 March 2007 (GMT)

This may be only in the Control Room, but breaking a talisman here sends you back to the Kingdom, not to the Oz equivalent city... -- bazauckland 10:39, 18 August 2007 (EST)

I broke a talisman at Mendoza's and went to the Oz city... Rhapsodie 09:34, 2 June 2009 (BST)
