Prerequisite: Access to the Ancient Castle and the death of the Rainbow Guards.
Reward: Get a lab coat. Your Astrolabe will predict 1 more location of the Ancient Castle.

Enter the Ancient Castle and take two steps in.

There is a strange-looking grid in the middle of one wall. It looks like your glyphs might fit in.

You can examine for 0 AP. You will see a puzzle that shows which glyphs are next to which and you have to put them in the grid. It requires nine different glyphs to solve. The puzzle is different for different players, and looks something like this. Sertularian has documented his glyph puzzle as an example.

Once placed, the glyphs appear and have a little red X. You can remove them with the red x.

If you have the glyphs and solve the puzzle, you can Unlock for 1AP. (If you try to unlock the door before you insert the glyphs, you get "a nasty electrical shock from the handle" for -10HP.)

A part of the wall swings open.

If you go back, you can then move north into a new area.

Ruthven's Office

This room is full of paper. Piles of it, laid out on every available flat surface, including the floor.
There might be carpet under there, but it's not easy to tell. Mixed in with the paper are the occasional
hidden pen or piece of scientific equipment. You can hear them crunch as you walk across the room.

You don't seem to be able to do anything here at this time.

Laboratory

A room full of incredible-looking scientific apparatus. There are things bubbling, sparking, smoking, 
steaming, and, in some cases, crawling across the workbench. A hatchway in the ceiling opens onto a
thunder-filled sky, in which a large angular figure is suspended in an iron cage. Near the door are some
cages of dangerous-looking animals.
There is a lab coat hanging on a peg on the far side of the room. 

You can Steal the labcoat (1 AP).

You gain a Lab Coat.
As you creep in, you knock one of the cages. It swings open, releasing the horror inside.
