Talk:BotFeeds
From Cities
Request: two RSS feeds- same information but one giving one update a day and the other giving 4 updates a day.
These should show only changes to availability and price.
ie. Fishing Rod... no longer available (last sold for 4023GP) Stone .. reduced. Cheapest now 300GP in East Market. Crocodile scale .. increased. cheapest now 3000GP in West Market. Can of Red Bull .. now available. 3000GP in West Market.
These should be only changes from the last update (6 hours / 24 hours ago respectively).
These should then be made into LJ RSS feeds so that I can friend one of them!
I think that's quite easy to do and a much more useful form for the data.
- That sounds like a job for das (creator of Citiesberg) - as I suspect he can produce most of that info from his database. I'm wondering if there's a way for us to combine our two systems (in fact, some sort of 'plugginable bot' would be nifty). Moj 13:27, 7 Jan 2006 (GMT)
Taxi availability feed?
I was thinking about maybe making a page that shows if/where taxis are available. However, I would guess taxi position data is rather volatile, and a rule that says you should only hit the server once an hour at most might make the data misleading or even useless, given the small number of taxis in play. It would, clearly, involve 6 bots- one at each city, the festival, and the palace.
So, is this therefore a silly idea, worth doing but with caveats, or a good idea, assuming Elseware might be willing to allow more frequent polling (say, once per ten minutes)? --Hotchpotch 12:53, 28 March 2006 (BST)
Bognor Market bot?
Bognor seems to be the only place that doesn't have it's own bot, but it still has some items in it like everywhere else. I think if someone made a bot for bognor it would become more popular so it would actually become useful. Kaos Dragon 18:56, 24 May 2006 (BST)
