A question and a complain
- Do you need to take an action or does simply refreshing the page trigger the monster script?--Solune 10:07, 8 February 2007 (GMT)
- A simple refresh should work. Darksatanic 12:05, 8 February 2007 (GMT)
- Some time ago I dibbed a phoenix and then died. When I came back it was no longer there. Either it was killed and I didn't get the message or it died of old age despite being dibbed. Attacking a monster should restart its clock at 0--Solune 10:07, 8 February 2007 (GMT)
- I can't answer this one yet. There is a change to this code that we've discussed, but this isn't it. As always, it's down to who gets the time to do it. Darksatanic 12:05, 8 February 2007 (GMT)
Locations
Is it necessary to list every possible location for every monster in the game? It seems rather unwieldy. I could see doing so for the (semi-)uniques, but a lot of the common monsters spawn in terrain other than that listed. (Hard Knocks monsters spawn on some of the islands as well as in the NE tunnels, "upper-level" interior monsters like Bulls and Penguins have a small chance of spawning on "green" squares, etc.) --Dragon 18:38, 9 February 2007 (GMT)
- I have to agree with Dragon - I was starting to make corrections for one critter or another, and had to stop when I realized the list of monsters unique to an area was a lot smaller than the list of ones who can be found in multiple areas. -- Thog 18:49, 9 February 2007 (GMT)
- I dunno, I figured it counted as a rule and I wanted to participate. And I wasn't going to list every monster. But the information could be useful, and there are many monsters that do spawn in certain terrain, such as Mud Men. Personally, I haven't seen Hard Knocks monsters on the islands, and I don't really consider Penguins "higher level." If you want, split it out to another page. -- X-Himy 18:54, 9 February 2007 (GMT)
- Hard Knocks Monsters spawn on Monster Island, Cigar Island, the Cursed Island. Rocs also Spawn on mountains in the frozen north and Wizard's retreat, Triffids also spawn in wizard's retreat and Ancient castle roof, Croc's also spawn in the great fire swamp. I've killed a fair number of manatees, they appear to follow normal spawning rules. 148.168.40.4 19:23, 9 February 2007 (GMT)
Raptors
Has anyone figured out the rules on raptor spawning? It seems that half the time I kill one, another pops up nearby, if not in exactly the same place. Does each raptor have a chance to respawn, or are there a certain number of spawns per pack? I've been trying to count the number of kills per pack but keep losing track. Sort of on the same subject, is it possible that raptor packs follow semi-unique spawning rules? I'm fairly sure that one Velociraptor pack spawned around me the very instant I slew the last member of another pack. -Scrumbucket 01:12, 1 March 2008 (GMT)
- Pretty much, yes. Raptors spawn in packs, and the packs are semi-unique. I'm not sure how big a pack is, perhaps 6-12 initially. Each time you kill an individual raptor, another raptor has a chance of spawning nearby, effectively adding to the size of the pack. Once you kill the last individual raptor in a pack (assuming it doesn't respawn), an entirely new pack will immediately respawn. --Dragon 02:01, 1 March 2008 (GMT)
- A 50% or so chance of another Raptor spawning seems about right, based on my experience. Not that I've counted. But since monsters don't have state, there most likely is a % chance of a re-spawn on the death of a Raptor, rather than a set number of re-spawns per pack. -- Sertularian 04:22, 1 March 2008 (GMT)
Manic Minotaur
I'm calling him unique based on my exploration of his lair over the last few days. It seems he has been taking a few hours to almost a day to respawn. If anyone has more precise information, please feel free to add it! -Scrumbucket 05:05, 25 March 2008 (GMT)
