do the hallucinations eventually wear off, or do you have to put the socks on again? I'd try the next stage, but I'd rather not fight a lot of big nasties like this ;) JohnnyRogers 11:26, 30 May 2006 (BST)

They do eventually wear off. It takes ages. Maybe 200AP? Vashka 11:49, 30 May 2006 (BST)

I would rather suggest getting assistance ahead of time for these quests; the slimes have a certain requirement there, and the Evil Selves sound like they eliminate one's ability to heal oneself. macksting 00:25, 26 June 2006 (BST)

For the evil selves, if you have around or more than 160,000 gold, you can do it near Seb's Stuff in Bentnob. Glass Swords are only 8000 gold each. Splitting your gold 5 ways, a starting capital of 160k will still buy your four of these shiny swords. In reality, you will need a lot less than this, as you recover gold and glass swords when you kill each evil self. -- LittleHamster 14:57, 23 July 2006 (BST)

For the ooze, do you need 12 squares cleared around you, or the 12 roads you can see if you've completed the doctor quest? I did find that of the 9 squares you can see, not even the corners are allowed to have players in them. PotatoEngineer 23:10, 29 November 2006 (GMT)

You need the 12 roads cleared, yes. The squares shouldn't matter. Keep in mind that even if the roads look clear, they might have an invisible creature there, including ones you can't see even with a Spirit Sword (fairies, imps...). --Dragon 03:09, 30 November 2006 (GMT)
I found that it won't work if some of the roads are "Danger" roads in the desert. (I checked with spirit sword and a Nuff there were no invisibles, and this was before imps/nodes/etc.) hendsch 12:57, 30 November 2006 (GMT)
Actually, I checked for invisibles when it wouldn't let me spawn with a player in the corner. Either it was blocked because you're not allowed to have players in corner squares, or because the southern market was one square off the map to the west where I was. PotatoEngineer 05:04, 3 December 2006 (GMT)
Again, I'm guessing there was an invisible monster you couldn't detect (Imp/Node/etc.). Players shouldn't make a difference--I've seen someone's slime around a city shrine in the 'Kingdom (note to all: Please do NOT do this, since your slime can then trap newbies), and those always have people present. --Dragon 17:53, 3 December 2006 (GMT)

It looks like there are only 3 90-degree rotations now. That would be a problem. - Isambard 23:19, 29 November 2006 (GMT)

Crap, wish I had thought of that before starting the quest. I don't want to have spend the rest of my time at 90 degrees to reality. Can a Great Lord help us poor Pandora Sock questers out? -- X-Himy 03:22, 30 November 2006 (GMT)
I still see four. The first step, the fourth step, the sixth step, and the eighth and final step. Random4518 04:11, 30 November 2006 (GMT)
You're right. My mistake. - Isambard 04:52, 30 November 2006 (GMT)
I finished the Pandora's Socks quest a couple of days ago. It seems, when you go through the rotations, the text popup on movement is changed from 'Moving West will cost 1 AP' to 'Moving this way will cost 1 AP'. But now I've finished the quest, they don't seem to have changed back. Andrewsi 19:18, 21 January 2007 (GMT)

Looks to me the slimes get stronger by a factor of 1.5 each time I kill one. Damage going up by 2 each. So, if there are only 3 slimes left, each would have 1135 hit points and deal 21 damage. The last one 2553, 25 damage.
Could somebody pleas confirm these numbers? Flt 13:15, 5 December 2006 (GMT)

It's more or less that. I found them to be as below
1.5 x previous HP in game
30 30
45 45
68 67
101 100
152 150
228 225
342 337
513 505
769 ?
1153 1135
1730 1702
2595 2553
It is a gain of 50%, rounded down. The table above seems to round the "1.5x previous" value up, and then the discrepancy gets compounded. --Dragon 05:06, 7 December 2006 (GMT)
And be careful with your tribbles - or my 500 raisins and 100 mugs of coffee, they of course had to go for my new found liver and heart. --smudgepuss 16:20, 6 December 2006 (GMT)
If the HP of the slimes increase as you kill slimes, could you save a lot of time by injuring every slime badly, and then beginning the slaughter? And do firecrackers have any particular effect? PotatoEngineer 23:34, 6 December 2006 (GMT)
Good idea--I've tested this and it works. When one slime dies, the rest seem to gain 50% of their current HP. Thus, injuring all of the slimes in the middle of the process makes the last few slimes a lot easier. --Dragon 05:06, 7 December 2006 (GMT)
Indeed. This is the way I've killed both sets of slimes I've done for to date. Darksatanic 18:07, 7 December 2006 (GMT)
I've been getting alot of use out of my phaser when I find them, but this sounds a whole lot less AP intensive. Thanks guys! -Jon 18:45, 7 December 2006 (GMT)

Apparently this quest can be completed multiple times, as I still have my first (uncursed) pair of socks but she gave me another (cursed) pair. Once you have a cursed pair, however, she will not give you more. Droll 18:09, 22 May 2007 (BST)
