Talk:Quest:Snark Hunt

I have no idea what is the movement penalty I keep seeing people refer to. Is that after you release the snark? Or from wearing Field Glasses? I wore Field Glasses all the time until I caught and released the snark. Never seen any movement penalty from either. -- LittleHamster 15:27, 24 April 2006 (BST)
My movement costs went up after catching and releasing the snark. Desert cost me 7 AP to move through compared to ~2 AP beforehand. If only I had finished my Creature List before letting it go... I'm pretty sure releasing the snark gives you the benefits and disadvantages of Field Glasses -- Koppernigk 16:06, 24 April 2006 (BST)
- That wasn't my experience--my movement modifier is at -4, right where I expect it. What does your modifier say in your Me page? Are you doing anything that might increase it (holding a Map, wearing a single Winged Boot, ...)? If not, I'd be of the opinion that this is a bug. --Dragon 18:24, 24 April 2006 (BST)
Stupid question, and one that's not exactly relevant to the quest requirements (capture the Snark): What happens if, supposing you decide to try, you actually manage to kill the Snark instead? Yes, I'm sure it's insanely difficult, supposing it's even technically possible to do. I'm just curious. --MuppetRabies 05:43, 2 June 2006 (BST)
- I don't believe that it's possible to kill the Snark at all. Darksatanic 11:39, 2 June 2006 (BST)
Can you catch it again after having caught and released it? Hypothetically asking, I'm not even that close to attempting it. --Snarfer 17:57, 13 June 2006 (BST)
- No. The Snark will only fight you if you have a Sack (for Snarks). The only way to get one of these is to sign up for the quest (which you can only do once); when you release the Snark it destroys the Sack. --Dragon 18:24, 13 June 2006 (BST)
- Here's the releasing text if anyone's interested. Kaos Dragon 15:44, 4 September 2007 (BST)
You release the snark... The snark mutters a spell and you feel a strange tingle in your optic nerve. The snark gives voice to a second spell. Your sack crumbles to dust. You lose a Snark in a Sack.
