Gauntlet FAQ:

  • Q: Is there any kind of time limit to the Gauntlet, or can you take as many AP as you want to finish it?
  • A: No, there is no time limit.

  • Q: Can you move past those of your alignment?
  • A: No. I tried getting by a monster by aligning it to my alignment and I still had to fight it. Syagrius 18:48, 17 February 2006 (GMT)

  • Q: How long is The Gauntlet? I just realised I need to cross the dessert, so I'd like to do this quest, but I want to gauge how ready I am. Does "all the Dragons" mean the small dragons of every alignment, and all the full-grown dragons of each alignment?
  • A: Yes Syagrius 18:48, 17 February 2006 (GMT)
  • A: It also includes the Nightmare Dragon at the very end. It doesn't include the Undead Dragon. Ulf 19:07, 4 October 2006 (BST)

  • Q: I just got through all the dragons, but wait - there's MORE! I'm at my third first-aid station. What kind of beasts can I expect after I'm through all the dragons, large and small, of every alignment? I noticed no one answered the question about how long the gauntlet is... leoth 04:32, 15 March 2006 (GMT)
  • A: Sounds like you're getting on for the end if you're past all the dragons. Nearly there, you might say. In distance at any rate. Ant 14:55, 15 March 2006 (GMT)

  • Q: So how long is it exactly?
  • A: Thirty-nine monsters, ranging from the lowly Earth Worm to the gooey Living Tar to the terrifying Nightmare Dragon. Difficulty varies a little at first but generally gets harder as you go along. There are three first-aid points along the way (somewhat concentrated toward the end, thankfully). --Dragon 02:47, 19 April 2006 (BST)

  • Q: A Small Scissor Beast just let me past and continues to follow me through the Gauntlet. Of course, I have no option to attack him (he's behind me). Is this likely to be a problem in completing the quest? --Kenndogg 21:54, 16 February 2006 (GMT)
  • A: No - once you get by a monster, you don't need to worry about it any longer. Syagrius 18:48, 17 February 2006 (GMT)
  • Update - I finished the Gauntlet but noticed that a few of the monsters let me by without a fight. Didn't stop me from finishing the quest, but certainly makes me wonder if there is a trick to beating the Gauntlet. I noticed one monster let me by when I switched to the Longbow. --Kenndogg 16:03, 18 February 2006 (GMT)

  • Q: If you die during the gauntlet, will your body be there to get your stuff back?
  • A: According to the designer, your gauntlet, which is one of 24, will always be the same gauntlet. Your body will, in fact, be there on your next entry unless some other enterprising adventurer, who happens to generate the same gauntlet, gets to it first. macksting 03:37, 28 February 2006 (GMT)
elseware recently revealed there's one gauntlet for each horoscope. we shoulda figured that one out... ;-) Jatt 18:04, 25 March 2006 (GMT)
That being the case, does anyone know what happens if two players with the same horoscope try to run the gauntlet at the same time? parking_god 16:34, 12 January 2008 (GMT)
You'll both be in the same gauntlet at the same time, sharing the killing. -- Sertularian 16:43, 12 January 2008 (GMT)

  • Q: Do monsters in the gauntlet drop the corpses of slain players?--Hamelin 01:08, 5 May 2006 (BST)
  • A: Yes, they will drop the corpse of a slain player, and rumor says they'll also drop arrows you shoot at them (unless you were foolish enough to shoot them at a tar). They don't drop any treasure of their own, though. Syagrius 01:12, 5 May 2006 (BST)
They don't drop arrows - I went in with 85 arrows and now I have 21! A lesson learnt in ammunition conservation. Corellis 10:39, 3 Mar 2007 (+0800 GMT)
I just shot and killed a Living Tar with a Bow, and got all my arrows back, plus the earlier Ninja Throwing Star I threw at it. (Stupidly, I used up all my AP, so it'll definitely have regenerated by the time I can move again...) --yehman 02:47, 25 June 2007 (BST)

  • Q: Did any1 notice that I could be just standing next to the ghost in the guantlet and just suck it up and get my 100 requirement ?bub246 02:47, 16 May 2006 (BST)
  • A: I think you're right--however, you'd first have to sign up at the Ghost Hunters' Guild, which is south of the desert. You could have braved the Desert without the Gauntlet--or, more likely, convinced someone to summon you to Brighthelm--but I'd guess most people in the Gauntlet haven't yet been that far south. (I certainly hadn't.) --Dragon 08:50, 20 May 2006 (BST)
  • Q: Has anyone tried wearing "Gauntlets" into the gauntlet to see if anything intresting happens?
  • A: I don't think that's really probable, since the gauntlet has existed for a much longer time than the item, and though any hunch based on a pun might be worth investigating in this game, I don't think the current one 'd be worth it. Apart from that, it seems too obvious to be fun enough :p --Deva 04:44, 27 February 2007 (GMT)
