Win A Soul - Let Voting Commence!

There are currently 2 entries for the Soul Contest - to vote for your favourite (one vote each, please) just sign under the one you like the most. If your entry isn't here and should be, add it to this list. You have until 23:59 on Tuesday :)

The Trophy Tracker appears to use the XML as well (at least, it doesn't work if I'm not showing my info). Is this ineligible for some reason? (I know I'd vote for it) -- Thog 02:31, 1 May 2007 (BST)
I don't /think/ it uses it - or at least I can't see a mention to the XML in the source ;) Moj 07:51, 1 May 2007 (BST)
Hmm. I can't access 4cities progress from work (host blocked as a gambling site), and Questr gets some things wrong for me (for example, tells me BlaisedeC has not done any totems when he's completed the totems). What and where is this Trophy Tracker? --128.221.197.21 16:58, 1 May 2007 (BST)
A gambling site?! Does it say why? --Duke angelsk MD 19:28, 1 May 2007 (BST)
Totems issue fixed Timekeeper 09:56, 2 May 2007 (BST)

For those who haven't figured it out yet, if you are logged in you can sign your name at the end of the list you are voting for by adding an asterisk and 4 tildes on a new line like this:

One soul not enough for you? Want to have a spare in case you need to learn to play the violin Really Well? You can be the proud owner of Heyus2's soul in the Cities Programming Challenge!

We've recently unleashed some XML entry points - you can now get players' inventories and all their info (if they make it available). Show us what you can do with this data, and the writer of the best toy we see using it by the end of April wins Heyus2's soul!

Get coding!

Now with super fruity Shiny Things! See your cabinets in the XML; see your cameras in the XML; see your pets in the XML (like this)! And, as a little side-mission, if someone makes a really shiny Dashboard widget that does a nice artistic view of one of the above, I'll send them a Mars Bar (or the UK confectionery of their choice). If you aren't UK, I'll paypal (or something) a few pence over so you can buy one yourself.

Soul is 'like new' in original unopened package. Meanwhile come visit my seal fur house at 6E 0S DSSGCM - Heyus2 22:33, 4 April 2007 (BST)
i would sell my soul for a pet ghost... it would be awesome
I'd sell my Soul for another's Soul (mine's a little battered ;-) ) Azuaron 11:57, 5 April 2007 (BST)
One good ideas for this would be to get both info and invent of a player and then advise them of what items are still needed for the scavenger hunt, the heinlein books, tarot cards and pop singles. Show which are still needed by the player AND (here's the mash-up, so fasionable!) list the cheapest market to get it from (if any) from citiesberg's API. Elseware 07:51, 6 April 2007 (BST)
I'd quite like something that generates a shopping list for the cocktail quest (poss using the market price in the same way :) . Alternatively, something that sends you a message (email, sms, etc) when your baby needs feeding (you can find that out from the stats now - as well as a whole load of other things ;). Moj 10:26, 6 April 2007 (BST)
I was already working on a straightforward Excel spreadsheet to do that, and I happened to have finished it off. Here you go. :-) Not as fancy as something that reads in the data automatically and links to Citiesberg and so on, but certainly functional enough for someone who is finding it difficult to track all of the various items needed for the Mixology quest. -Stelio 21:15, 11 April 2007 (BST) (Oh, and naturally this isn't an entry into the contest since it doesn't do any fancy stuff with XML.)
Ok I have stepped up to the mark with v1 of Cities Questr. It mashes up info.xml, inventory.xml and the citiesberg lowest price xml page to make this : Questr. Currently works out what your travel, tarot, CD, Herbs and Heinlein position are. Mixology and the rest are coming soon....... Timekeeper 18 April 2007 (BST)
Love it! But it incorrectly says I have YSMR(LAR) - I got very excited there for a moment! Phw
Sorry, fixed it now, it was getting confused with Your Disco Needs You...Timekeeper 18 April 2007 (BST)
Yep, way cool - it shows that I haven't finished Fortune Tellers when I have. Cthu1hu 06:45, 22 April 2007 (GMT)
Am currently working on a Cities Progress page (4cities). Would like feedback :) --Jo 13:52, 18 April 2007 (BST)
Looks great Jo. 2 minor bugs, it says I haven't finished mixology or smelly pete, which I have. Hbookbinder 21:39, 20 April 2007 (BST)
Thanks :) Did you go back to see Smelly Pete after finding his parents? You don't appear to have the "key" stat set. Adding in the proper mixology stats (I typoed ;) - Thanks. --Duke angelsk MD 21:49, 20 April 2007 (BST)
Any chance that shop contents can be expose via XML? I'd LOVE to have a way to tell where I can go for a particular item. -- Thog 22:50, 20 April 2007 (BST)

Neither one of these two tools work for me, in Firefox I get a bunch of PHP errors at the top of the page (from both tools) and nearly all of the quests I've done aren't marked as such. In IE when I put my username in (LimeHan), it doesn't do anything and refreshes the username input page.--Hamelin 17:52, 25 April 2007 (BST)

Ah, this is a problem with the Cities xml, not the tools - something isn't escaped correctly for your user. Try with a different user, such as mikej and you'll see they work fine. Will point Harvey at this. --Duke angelsk MD 19:26, 25 April 2007 (BST)

I would be dead keen to see an app that tells you which Monster League tables you're top of, and how far off you are with the others. All this XML coding ain't my bag, baby, but if there is some genius out there willing to give it a go...? - Cthu1hu 13:30, 30 April 2007 (GMT)
Also, would somebody replace or repair the Citiesberg grapher?! Doc Mackie 20:08, 30 April 2007 (BST)

On another note, I'm unable to bring myself to vote. I like both. Really. And I'd hate to see either halt development, although if either does halt development, would the person who was in charge of it please help the other guy, because they're both good. Doc Mackie 08:24, 2 May 2007 (BST)
I agree completely with the good Doctor. (That's why I couldn't bring myself to place a binding vote.) -Stelio 18:46, 2 May 2007 (BST)
