Hi, you asked for feedback on your Cities progress page (which needs a name). I like it very much. It's clean and tidy, but the links to more extended info are still clear, which is very important. Overall, it's very impressive. Some suggestions: Prices from Citiesberg for the items needed would be a nice addition. Remembering my name from page to page would be, too.  :D And it doesn't think I've slain the Gorgan, although I have. -- Sertularian 02:21, 21 April 2007 (BST)

First of all, thank you :)
Secondly, do you still have the Gorgan Head? This is the only way I can track who has slain her, because there is no other flag set? Annoying, but if you have any ideas let me know :) For example, can you make Gorganzola Sandwiches only if you have slain the Gorgan?
Thirdly, Citiesberg - the Treasure Hunt page hooks up to Citiesberg and actually today's project is hooking the other pages up, so hopefully by Monday you'll have your wish :)
Fourthly, It remembers your name on the "[progress]" links, but I will investigate hooking it into the sidebar links if that is what you are referring to.
Thank you again. --Duke angelsk MD 09:05, 21 April 2007 (BST)
Fatal error: Objects used as arrays in post/pre increment/decrement must return values by reference in /var/users/webs/jocarter/paparazzi.php on line 59
Forgot to check for empty cameras, thanks.
Same mistake you picked me up on.
Your site looks lovely as well! A lady who codes in C++, Java and Php is an unusually rare lady indeed. ;)
One good turn deserves another etc etc.. The Gorgon can be tracked with the stats gorgan_kills and sw_gorgan, I dont know why there are 2 but it seems there are. Ill try to find out more Smelly Pete names as well as I need to solve that one myself. If you want to put our heads together on anything alse then just give me a shout. - Timekeeper 30th April 2007 14:55
sw_gorgan - That's just the sarnies eaten, which of course do not guarantee that they've killed the Gorgan, they may have traded for something.
Thanks --Duke angelsk MD 15:05, 30 April 2007 (BST)
Cool, thanks for the T of T info too, do you have some sort of insider info on these tags then or are you just clever?
NP. I'm just persistent ;) --Duke angelsk MD 16:14, 30 April 2007 (BST)

Just a quick one - if there's space, perhaps having the herbs page list the terrain for herbs you haven't got yet as well as / instead of the price. Phw

I'm having a couple of days break, but I will add it to the list ;) Thanks for the suggestion --Duke angelsk MD 23:27, 2 May 2007 (BST)
Hello. 4cities is really cool! A suggestion? I was thinking it'd be cool if the page could show the requirements of career quests even if someone is in a different one. i.e. it'd be handy if the Shaman ">" listed the cds missing even when one isn't an Apprentice. Anyway, just my twopence. --Deva 22:34, 3 May 2007 (BST)
Just click on [progress], or use the CDs link in the sidebar ;) --Duke angelsk MD 22:41, 3 May 2007 (BST)

hi! i just checked my progress and my perfect caffienation seems to be wrong. it says i haven't achieved it yet but i have, and am currently working my way through my 2nd lot of caffeine tolerance. it says i have 19 mugs to go, perhaps that is counting 19 mugs til i have 0 tolerance again? rach =) Spugmeistress 15:49, 6 May 2007 (BST)

Very nice! One thing -- the Merchant info is inaccurate for players working toward level 1. For example, it claims BlaisedeC needs to sell to ten more players when he only needs to sell to 4 more (he's sold to 6) for level 1. --BlaisedeC 20:51, 28 May 2007 (BST)

Ah, I was just going off the info on the quests page... I'll have a look. --Duke angelsk MD 08:43, 29 May 2007 (BST)
Also, the Mixology progress is inaccurate because the info.xml tags don't map to the obvious results. For example, Lalumi has learned the Bloody Mary so far (according to my memory and according to cgi-bin/info) but info.xml shows BrandyAlexander as learned. --BlaisedeC 04:47, 29 May 2007 (BST)
I'm a bit confused, now that I think about it. The mixology progress page claims to use the Citiesberg API but doesn't seem to show what ingredients are not in the character's inventory, much less what the ingredients will cost. --BlaisedeC 05:09, 29 May 2007 (BST)
Mixology is a work in progress tbh, there will eventually be a shopping list. Not sure what's up with info.xml there though. --Duke angelsk MD 08:43, 29 May 2007 (BST)
Very nice program, I daresay, but I have a bug report. It's misreporting my mixology drink. I know how to craft but one, and it's the Vodka Martini (apparently handy for we wizarding folk.) However, the 4Cities says I'm able to make a Brown Cow. S. Mackie 22:49, 8 June 2007 (BST)
It looks like Angelsk hasn't seen my work on the mix tags. They're not mapped to the identically named drink. --BlaisedeC 05:50, 10 July 2007 (BST)

Me again; 4Cities is reporting a number of quests incomplete that I actually have completed. I'm not sure, but I think they were correctly reported at one time before:

  • Gained access to the Ancient Castle
  • Helped Thor in his Cottage
  • Completed the Magic Egg Hunt
  • Found the North Pole (Oddly, though, it knows I've found Asgard.)
  • Helped the Royal Engineer
  • Slew the Gorgan (Wore out the head, though; maybe that's why)
  • Found Dread Cthu1hu's Garden
  • Completed a Tarot Deck
  • Did a Jack and the Beanstalk

Other than the Gorgan Head, I have all of the relevant objects. Hope this helps; please let me know if I can be of further assistance, or feel free tell me to just bugger off.  :) -- Sertularian 00:13, 30 May 2007 (BST)

All those require your inventory to be public: http://cities.totl.net/cgi-bin/invent.xml?username=Sertularian <- doesn't seem to be. Sorry :( --Duke angelsk MD 08:55, 30 May 2007 (BST)
Well, that's just strange. At the time I reported the bug, I swear to you, my inventory was public - I knew it needed to be, and I checked. (I usually keep it private, and I changed it back before you checked.) In any case, I just tried it again, and it works fine now. :) Perhaps I had some sort of caching (cacheing? Ka-ching?) issue going on. Thanks! -- Sertularian 20:19, 3 June 2007 (BST)

Hi, been using your great tool. (love the 4 little icons on the bottom BTW) So far, everything's been working fine except the Cavern/Bomb Squad quest, which correctly shows I've visited all ten altars on it's own progress page, but tells me I've visited 0 altars on the summary page. Just giving you a heads-up. --yehman 02:28, 23 June 2007 (BST)

Sorry, I took a break from development... but I'll be back soon with new and improvedness, and hopefully fix that bug! Thanks --Duke angelsk MD 12:26, 16 August 2007 (BST)

Would you be willing for me to host a mirror of it on one of my domains (hosted in the US)? That'd avoid the problem the company I work for seems to have with your IP address (and let me take a look at the code... there are some things I'm wondering whether might be possible, and I'd like to use it as a template for a different utility as well.) --BlaisedeC 05:50, 10 July 2007 (BST)

Sorry, I'd rather keep my code to myself, and I host with a friend. Not sure what's wrong with my IP? --Duke angelsk MD 12:26, 16 August 2007 (BST)
OK, I understand. All I know is that the company I work for uses Websense, and your site is blocked with a reason of "Gambling"... --BlaisedeC 21:05, 16 August 2007 (BST)
Weird. There's no gambling on my site. Maybe take it up with your company/ Websense? --Duke angelsk MD 09:45, 17 August 2007 (BST)

well I have been using it almost since I joined the game without problems, but now It's showing a lot of errors (Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /var/www/web1/web/progress.php on line 17

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /var/www/web1/web/progress.php on line 23

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /var/www/web1/web/progress.php on line 29). Is it me? or something went wrong?--Che-T 06:21, 12 August 2007 (BST)

i am also experiencing these --ancev
I believe the Bugs page says that the XML feeds are down. This would cause it to error. I'll see if I can't make a nicer error page. Thanks for letting me know. --Duke angelsk MD 12:26, 16 August 2007 (BST)

4Cities tells me that I have to become a Knight before becoming a Private - however I believe that Riff Raff has managed to become a Pvt. without becoming a Knight; I do however need to buy a New Cabinet. --naath 13:57, 3 November 2007 (GMT)

Suggestion: for the Trophy Cabinet, also organizing it by general area, such as Oz, Fire Swamp, Frozen North, etc. Peterbluer 20:37, 17 December 2007 (GMT)

4cities v1.5 *New and improved*

  • NB: This is still in progress. Please offer comments, bugs etc below.

Small bug, it says I haven't yet collected my water skin: Have healed enough people, can now collect a Water Skin. Also a few things are a little of, like pub crawl, it's checking my blood alcohol level, but I haven't picked up the guide yet, or shows smith as a possibility when i haven't found the castle --Che-T 01:40, 24 August 2007 (BST)

I'm assuming these things show up correctly on the other tool (i.e: you have your inventory set to public?)
Yes, you can check it on both with the user name Che--Che-T 14:20, 24 August 2007 (BST)
Thanks, will investigate... I did know about the Smith one... I got my calculation backwards! ;) --Duke angelsk MD 07:24, 24 August 2007 (BST)
Better now? Thank you for your help... :) --Duke angelsk MD 10:26, 29 August 2007 (BST)
Yeap, it's fine now. but I found a new one, under the gauntlet it says "Win a Duel before you can brave the Gauntlet". but I already won the duel, and it's marked as done.--Che-T 19:12, 29 August 2007 (BST)

Small comment here. It would be nice to have the wiki links in the detailed progress pages also. For example, if I'm checking which herb I need to identify next, I can find the link to the wiki on top of the same page, instead of clicking on the summarized progress page. --yehman 21:43, 26 September 2007 (BST)

I shall add it to the list. Thanks for the idea --Duke angelsk MD 22:42, 26 September 2007 (BST)

Just found myself opening up the xml file to see which weapon was needed for the dojo training. I've initiated the first level dojo quest, but have not turned in the first weapon yet. FYI the xml is:

<stat id="dojoitem">MerzBow</stat>

--yehman 00:22, 7 October 2007 (BST)

It report i havent "Visited NE Tunnels", but i did! it show fine on "me" page and in "questr" --ancev

It won't show as complete until you've reached the altar - then the stat becomes 2 rather than 1. If you click on the > to show more info, it tells you what you need to do to get a complete. --Duke angelsk MD 07:53, 16 November 2007 (GMT)
i activated it already, i´m pretty sure --ancev
The Underearth
You have been to and activated the North-East Altar.
You have been to and activated the South-West Altar.
You have been to and activated the North-West Altar.
That's so completely bizarre because you have activated the altar, yet the stat is only showing as 1 not 2 like the other tunnels. Urm, I shall rejig my checking to accommodate your weird stat thing ;) --Duke angelsk MD 22:32, 18 November 2007 (GMT)

I don't know where to put this, but when I try to see my Standing Stones progress I get: go back »

I went through all nine ten names, and the correct baby type is listed under "Harvey Farm" for each one. Random4518 01:00, 22 April 2007 (BST)

Seems you did manage the impossible (according to DS :). Feel like letting us in on the secret? Snarfer 15:38, 22 April 2007 (BST)

It was easier once info.xml became public. I just tried all the other constant stats. Tis "created" (creation date as an epoch date) mod 8 the order being $babies = array("Badger", "Bear", "GlowWorm", "FireFox", "Hippy", "Lion", "Ninja", "Squirrel");
good job! Kudos given ;-) Flt 08:51, 23 April 2007 (BST)
