Collecting for Dummies!
So you want to start your own Inexplicable Collection? Congratulations, you are about to embark on a long, sordid, time-consuming task with no appreciable rewards! You shall become one of the few, the proud, the just-give-me-that-stupid-Dispenser-you-annoying-freaking-Jason! The Rules of the Quest (at least as I have explored my way through them) boil down to "ya gotta be able to get it when you look for it." This excludes some items, but the huge vast majority will go into your collection bag. The list of already-collected items is huge, long, boring, and not quite complete---you should also look in the list of uncollected items to see what little is missing from my master list. Keep watch upon the wiki, that you might see what New Items are discovered by players.

I'm at the trade post in Los Caputas Mr.Monk 23:02, 16 November 2007 (GMT)

my pwny doesn't have parents. Zoological 07:05, 28 October 2007 (GMT)

I have 5 Empty Books awaiting you (your prize for the Thogistani Army contest). Let me know when and where would work for handing the winnings over to you. -- Durkon 04:33, 29 May 2008 (BST)

If it's any consolation, the Forbidden City and High Plateau are quite boring currently. I was expecting T-Rexes and Raptors on the Plateau, all I saw before Ruthven threw me out were rabbits and sparrows and worms. -- Thog 12:52, 29 January 2007 (GMT)

Grr. Rub it in, buddy. You'll learn. One day when I make my own party and only make 1 t-shirt for me, then you'll learn! -Jon 12:23, 15 November 2006 (GMT)

You make a fair point (you know, about it not being your fault). However, if you have a spare one, I'd love one. Can you see the future? A hobby of collecting t-shirts within a game which itself is a hobby. I feel so nerdy =] -Jon 12:29, 15 November 2006 (GMT)
You sir, rock. One might say you're a rockin' rock of rock in fact. Thank you very much! -Jon 16:15, 15 November 2006 (GMT)
I just wanted to let you know, I have shirts for you from both of my last two parties. At some point we should coordinate a way to get them to you =] -Jon 21:25, 10 June 2007 (BST)

I noticed that you are sitting on one heck of a pile of poop. I am considering a really monumental gardening project and was wondering if you'd consider trading or selling your on-hand supply? -Jon 06:37, 29 May 2010 (BST)

I do have a rather absurd amount of poop. I'd consider trading the bulk of it for other pet foodstuffs, but I would need to keep some of it for Fecal, my Dung Beetle, and small gardening projects. Diamonds and Flying Bacon spring to mind... -- Sertularian 12:12, 29 May 2010 (BST)
I'll begin harvesting as much of both as I can and be in touch when I've got any kind of quantity. Thank you! -Jon 16:19, 29 May 2010 (BST)

I know someone who used that name on City of Villains; she was in the same villain group as myself. It just so happens she's also a member of the same RPG club as myself and I posted a link on the club website that pointed to Cities. I will find out if she is the same person tomorrow evening at the earliest. At the very least I can pass a message onto her boyfriend... If I'm mistaken then we have a problem. What we have learned:

  • The big n0rx can be VERY big.
  • Pay attention when wrestling with Large Sand Worms.
  • I seem to have a fetish for large suggestive objects.
  • My Secret Master Plan is not only difficult, but dangerous.
  • Getting killed takes 20% off your XP, and gets old real fast.
  • The insurance is a VERY good thing.
  • So is the Dead-O-Matic script on the Development page (thanks, JohnnyRogers).
I was just about to ask if you've checked it out yet ;) JohnnyRogers 23:59, 10 June 2006 (BST)
Yes, I've installed it on both the PC's I usually use. And when you get below 5% Max HP, you definitely notice! -- Sertularian 01:04, 11 June 2006 (BST)

  • Cities is back! Are you? Syagrius 23:21, 20 April 2013 (BST)

  • "That which does not kill me had better run damn fast, because I am coming after it". I shall try to live my life according to this philosophy! -- Sertularian 12:54, 2 May 2006 (BST)
  • I happen to have a copy of Glory Road sitting in my inventory, if you're interested. Syagrius 23:50, 11 September 2006 (BST)
Currently at Waynestock, if you want the copy of Glory Road still. Also have a pair of eggs and a pair of records if you're interested in doing a bit of trading. :) Syagrius 19:22, 25 September 2006 (BST)
Let me know when you're feeling more social and we'll work out a trade. Tell Lady Byzantina she has a great name. My lady wife and I both have Byzantine names (in game). Syagrius 22:41, 25 September 2006 (BST)
check your wikimail too. There's an interesting tidbit in there that I don't want to share here. Syagrius 16:31, 25 September 2006 (BST)
  • Still have a copy of Glory Road, and still at Waynestock if you're interested. :) Syagrius 14:59, 30 September 2006 (BST)
  • Nope, she hasn't. I've been trying to get a copy for her to read, without success. Syagrius 02:04, 13 October 2006 (BST)
  • Well, on the cocktail shaker - enough materials to make 2... One for you, one for me :) Syagrius 15:44, 26 January 2007 (GMT)
Dunno - I do believe I have to start the quest first to see what it looks like (similar to the hermit quest and the golden sickle). Syagrius 04:47, 27 January 2007 (GMT)
  • Thanks for the summon! I'll give your stone back in about 9 AP :) Syagrius 16:46, 5 February 2007 (GMT)
  • School is draining. That's all I have to say (figured I outta post something here since it's been over a year) :D Syagrius 23:23, 13 March 2008 (GMT)
  • Thanks for the birthday wishes :) Syagrius 05:45, 16 June 2008 (BST)

Wizardry things

  • Hey Sert! I have need of one Water Catana and 2 Earth Catanas - would it be possible for you to make them for me? I've got bare catanas if you need them. Let me know on cost. It's for my Taxing Cellar List if it matters. :) Syagrius 06:10, 7 October 2008 (BST)

  • I'll be at your birthday party and deliver the armour :) Syagrius 15:16, 28 November 2006 (GMT)
Um... Checking your calculations, sans helm (which you already have) it's only 3300 bits of bronze, but that doesn't give you gauntlets, a gorget, or a codpiece. The Gorget is 4 pieces of leather and the gauntlets are 6 leather and 160 iron. Total (before discount) is 3300 bronze, 20 leather, and 160 iron. Provided you want a full suit of armour, of course. Syagrius 03:22, 5 December 2006 (GMT)
Alrighty, I have a bag for you which contains:
Bronze Greave (7%) x 2
Bronze Scale Armour (35%)
Bronze Vambrace (10%) x 2
Cod Piece (1%)
Gauntlet (3%) x 2
Leather Gorget (3%)
Meaning, you have a 79% chance (without your helmet on) that your armour will absorb some of the incoming damage. The only piece of armour that will wear out with movement is the codpiece. Everything else should only wear out with combat. I'll deliver when I see you back at the party :) Syagrius 15:53, 19 December 2006 (GMT)

Did you receive my palantir? :) Syagrius 06:00, 26 July 2008 (BST)

Thief Quest chatter

  • If the thieves stopped stealing (and let me pass) after training, that would be an entirely different matter. Otherwise, as I left on Stien's page, thieves (NPC and players) are worthy of the Ottoman art of impalement. :) Syagrius 01:26, 20 June 2006 (BST)

Adventure Games too!

Adventure games are fun. I used to play Adventure! on the atari, and I have all 3 Zork text games on my computer. Still fun to play :) Syagrius 14:14, 20 April 2006 (BST)

Oh, and Rogue. Used to get slaughtered in that game.Syagrius 20:03, 20 April 2006 (BST)
I still get slaughtered in Rogue, usually very quickly. Cities seems safer! -- Sertularian 20:21, 20 April 2006 (BST)

I actually already have a sea horsie; Thanks though! I think it'll be rather handy for the circumnavigation quest :) Syagrius 01:14, 10 August 2008 (BST)

Dragon Breeding

I have dragons, males and females. They're yours (except my Ice Dragon) if you want them. I've bred a couple but haven't worked out their genes at all. Syagrius 06:07, 10 April 2010 (BST)

Incidentally, they mostly eat sheep parts. Syagrius 05:25, 13 April 2010 (BST)
Thanks for the offer!! I have a male and female currently. What flavors are yours, and who are they descended from? If I start down this road, I'll probably do what I did with Horsies, and have them all descend from Fanuilh. -- Sertularian 12:12, 13 April 2010 (BST)
I have Clancy, Smaug, Avatar, and Tien Lung from.... someone. I've bred a couple of other dragons (still too young to know sex without the gene sequence) from these and Penezny Smij. I want to keep Penezny Smij, but the rest are open to go to a good home. Syagrius 15:17, 16 April 2010 (BST)
3 water, 2 fire, and one just born from a water and an ice dragon mating. Syagrius 23:46, 3 May 2010 (BST)
Oh, and two females (Clancy and Avatar - both water) came from Rhapsodie. I don't remember who I got Smaug (fire male) from. Tien-Lung is a watery-female. Knobby is firey, but sex unknown (too young - 3 weeks old) and Lambton is completely unknown (only 2 days old). Knobby and Lambton both have my Ice Dragon as a sire. Avatar and Clancy are the mothers. Syagrius 00:24, 4 May 2010 (BST)
I guess I could adopt - strike that, be adopted by - the two little ones, if you like. What the heck, they're small, right?  ;-) Since Fanuilh is Penenzy's father, Knobby and Lambton are his grand-kids, so that works for me. I'm on HI and could meet you most anywhere's convenient. Thanks! -- Sertularian 22:41, 4 May 2010 (BST)
I've been bashing sheepies in Harvey's Farm - let me know where ya wanna meat... er.... meet and I'll see if the little ones would like to adopt you. ;) Syagrius 01:30, 5 May 2010 (BST)
I'm at the Trading Post at 2E, 31N (just SE of Harvey Farm). -- Sertularian 12:17, 5 May 2010 (BST)
Knobby and Lambton seem to like you. I've passed some food along to keep them happy. Syagrius 15:35, 5 May 2010 (BST)
Dragons and Mutton received successfully, thank you very much! I'll keep them fed and happy. -- Sertularian 23:24, 5 May 2010 (BST)

I am so embarassed. I had Sy help me out, and then promptly died again. I'm across the desert but am in desperate need of an 8 ball, a weapon of some kind...and, if you still have that dragon stone I'd be completely indebted. Now I must go and hide my blushes

Book Trade!

So I'm at Waynestock right now, with a serious AP deficit, but that should be remedied within a day's time. I just need Farnham's, and then I'm all trained up in books! So I'll hand off I Will Fear No Evil, and as I have multiple copies, you're free to keep it. Hope to hear from you shortly! macksting 19:51, 27 September 2006 (BST)

Damnit, turns out the one I'm still missing is Time Enough for Love. Anyway, how am I supposed to hand over I Will Fear No Evil, as well as Farnham's Freehold, if you're not around? macksting 19:38, 28 September 2006 (BST)
Good thing you responded. I was this close to summoning you. :) Patience I've got, and I certainly have little idea what to do with my time. macksting 19:42, 28 September 2006 (BST)
Addend: May I loan Billz8 your copies of Methusulah and Farnham's? They're yours, right? macksting 19:48, 28 September 2006 (BST)
Nothing I can think of. macksting 06:59, 30 September 2006 (BST)

Adventure games

More of a ZAngband player, myself. And as far as that goes, I fell in love with a game called GearHead; it's a Rogue-like, ascii game, in the anime mecha genre. As far as the writer knows (Joseph Hewitt, lives in Korea) it's one of a kind. Has a lot of random elements, a large number of possible plotlines and storylines, and a charming mecha system based loosely on the Mekton game series.

Yes, I talk about everything I love like this. Wanna hear me chatter about my fiance? :) Doc Mackie
I've met your fiancee. She seems nice. ;)
Uberly so. macksting 07:29, 3 Feb 2006 (GMT)

Narsty Things in the Inner Regions

Ho boy. Maybe we should post a Conversation notice saying "don't go into the inner region for a while, unless you're really confident about your survivability! Ghouls!" Or something. Maybe try to write an editorial for the next Citizen issue. macksting 08:52, 23 March 2006 (GMT)

Ghouls suck. I have a pretty good theory who it is though (along with the other characters from the IP Scan). Funny how when I go looking for a body, one of those characters is always close by, and offending monster is never around. Syagrius 17:23, 23 March 2006 (GMT)
As demonstrated most recently in the Southern Regions. -- Sertularian 21:48, 23 March 2006 (GMT)

Need Charcoal; Got Wood

Would you mind helping me with my charcoal woes? I'm collecting wood, but there's a limit to what I can do with this. The idea is to provide sufficient charcoal to produce a bunch of cannon balls with my new Lead Ore. I imagine this'll take a lot. macksting 20:47, 5 June 2006 (BST)

Ne'er mind. I significantly overestimated how much charcoal is required. Only 4 per cannon ball, and only 5 cannon balls per lead ore. Looks like I'm fine. macksting 20:53, 5 June 2006 (BST)
I might consider swinging by with a cartload of firewood at some point. Right now, however, my emphasis is on turning lead into gold indirectly. The alchemical medium shall be combat. macksting 19:53, 6 June 2006 (BST)

I've looked at the EPrints site; you must have a very interesting job in RL. I saw the change in Recent Changes, and it's a Friday and I'm bored, so I took a look - and was struck by the obvious pun in the first line! Cheers, and happy weekend. -- Sertularian 18:05, 24 February 2006 (GMT)

Tildes, growing things, shameless flirtation with Sy, more tildes, matchmaking, wealth-sharing party, tildes. There, all cleaned up. And lookit, I found the tildes again, after stealing some of Sy's page for my own personal use. Jenali 00:33, 14 March 2006 (GMT)

Don't worry - to me, you'll always be sexy doctor lady. -- Sertularian 12:40, 28 March 2006 (BST)

Leave me a message when you're back from Bolivia, or at least in Internet / Cities range again... -- Sertularian 00:26, 27 April 2006 (BST)

Hi from New York! Jenali 14:14, 8 June 2006 (BST) (Man, I wish I'd seen that button before I got my tildes back. Sigh.)
What's up, by the way? -- Jenali 14:30, 16 June 2006 (BST)
Yes, jobhunting. Sigh. Here's a quick story, and you can let me know if you want more. I was in Potosí, Bolivia, and I ended up hanging out with a French guy because nobody else from our hostel wanted to go out and we both did. There's nothing open, so he asks three drunk Bolivians on a doorstep what they recommend. They tell us to sit around and talk to them, so we do for a bit. They're saying things to him like he should jump my bones, what's the good in walking around with a beautiful girl and not doing anything, stuff like that. The least drunk one tells his friends that I might understand and they say, naaaah, this is a man thing. Meanwhile, the French boy is smiling and nodding and I can tell he doesn't get it. When I've had enough, I tell them he doesn't touch me because I'll punch him. We walk off, and sure enough, he hasn't understood. He asks me the meaning of a word; "attack," I tell him, in English. Then he asks what I said. When I tell him, "punch in the mouth" he backs off. Later this night he tries to kiss me. I ask him if he only did it to see if I'd really punch him and he says no.
That wasn't the best story, but it makes me laugh. Want more? --Jenali 06:38, 23 June 2006 (BST)
It's not that only men speak other languages. But the topic was a man thing, therefore...I like your French story, though. "Sounds Germanic, that accent...gotta be German." But it is true as a rule that English speakers are depressingly monolingual, Brits and Australians as much so as we Americans. --Jenali 06:57, 24 June 2006 (BST)
Hey dude, long time. 'sup? Got any ideas on the optimal pub crawl path, or just how much booze I oughta bring with? --Jenali 15:46, 20 July 2006 (BST)
Anywhere near Bentnob, then? Could probably use a summon. --Jenali 19:09, 20 July 2006 (BST)

user talk

Hey, no problem :) I need stuff to do for practice anyway. You could tell me the equipment you need to have on you on the pic, and maybe a photo of you (or a description of your cities avatar, anyway). I can't guarantee anything on when it will be ready, though. Uhh... anyway, what do you think would be a fair price -like, for 3 or 4 hours of work-, in cities goods?

As far as a fair price goes, I honestly have no idea. I guess I'd want to help your character(s?) out with their current Cities quests. What are the hard-to-come-by items that you need, or want, at the moment? For example, I have a golden gun...
I picture Sertularian as a tall, skinny, happy, and greying Doctor. He looks like he might have been distinguished once, but is a little ragged now. The three accomplishments I'd like to reflect in the picture are the founding of the KOT; his completion of the Rock Soc Pub Crawl while wankered and wearing a Top Hat, and the Wriggling Road project.
So, I picture him in a crowded Cities Tavern, somewhat drunk, wearing a battered Top Hat and ragged tails, raising a martini in a toast. Perhaps there's a green worm coming out of his pocket, or on the rim of his glass, or something, in honor of the Wriggling Road. I'm not sure how to represent the KOT, but it's very important to me. He should have a medical bag, of course, and a badge. He's a Fire player, and his Fire Sword and Fire Bow are his favorite weapons. He's known for his fine roasted coffee beans, too.
One of the things I really like about your picture is the number of Cities references you put into it without cluttering it up. Sertularian has A LOT of stuff, but it certainly doesn't all have to be in there. Those are sort of the high points, anything else is a bonus.
I welcome your creative input. How would you like to proceed? Is this enough info? Do you want to do a sketch first, or just go for it? Does a golden gun sound good? I have other stuff, too.
-- Sertularian 13:28, 30 March 2006 (BST)
Ok. About how this will work: I'll keep the description in mind and see how it goes... I usually make the first sketches in class (sound engineer here :)) until something good comes up. -- so anyway, I don't know when I'll have the first sketch, cause beginning working on something is a pretty random process for me :)
Uhh... do you absolutely want the crowded tavern bit? It sounds like a pain in the butt, as I'll probably have to draw a separate picture and place the character in it. Well, on the other hand this could be fun, though I'd appreciate it if you said something like "the tavern isn't really needed, but if you happen to draw it it'd be cool". anyway
as for the Golden Gun, I think I have more than I need. Currently my quests are mostly the standing stones and the apple pips, so it's mostly a matter of ap and waking up at the right time. Insane quantities of spice would be a cool reward, I guess :D. Anyway, I think the only things I'd need atm are sunflowers, martial arts books (you can see what I'm missing in my user page), and maybe a few roc rocks. I could trade some spare crocodile scales and triffid stings for those, too.
Does the KOT have a logo of some kind? Maybe I could help with that, too. Then we'd have something to put on your charater :) I was thinking of helping the KOT in some way, but I think I'm too greedy with my ap to actually do something in-game :).
--Deva 15:09, 30 March 2006 (BST)
"The tavern isn't really needed, but if you happen to draw it it'd be cool." Way cool. ;) Maybe if it's background, it doesn't need the same level of detail? What do I know, you're the artist!!!
The KOT doesn't have a logo, but I bet we'd all love one. I know I would. It could go on the medical bag, maybe?
Yeah, insane quantities of spice would be great, wouldn't they? I've only ever seen one gram, though... *wistful sigh*
Sunflowers are no problem at all. I have one martial arts book now, and I'm planning on picking up the others when I have the cash and return to civilization. I'll be delighted to loan them to you once I have them. I have a number of roc rocks, too, and can easily get more. Croc scales are troubling for me, but don't worry too much about trading them to me unless you have an ungodly number of them or something.
-- Sertularian 15:39, 30 March 2006 (BST)
ok, this is not about the picture -- I'll do something about it this week, because the last one just slipped away :)... so, how many croc scales are enough for it to be considered ungodly? I could trade you up to 70 for 15 triffid stings and 18 roc rocs. It would be a bit better for me if you could do with something like 40 scales/30 phoenix feathers, but it's your choice. Anyway, I got scales and feathers :) --Deva 03:24, 9 April 2006 (BST)
OK, don't stress about the picture. I mean, I still want it and all, but don't stress about it. So, phoenix pheathers are totally easy for me and I have more than I need, and no trouble getting more. How about 30 scales for 15 stings? Or 40 for 20? Just let me know. -- Sertularian 01:40, 10 April 2006 (BST)
I mostly need rocks, not stings, though. How about 15 rocs and 5 stings for 40 scales?
I also did a few more sketches -although nothing worth scanning yet-. Oh, How'd you like a grey ponytail and a pair of reading glasses? I'm trying to get a doctor-who's-seen-much feeling :) I'm thinking of those rectangular really thin glasses with a thin metal skeleton. --Deva 04:06, 11 April 2006 (BST)
Yes! Sounds excellent.  :D As for the trade, it's a deal. I'll need to go Roc hunting, but it shouldn't take long. -- Sertularian 11:17, 11 April 2006 (BST)
Cool. If you want we can up the deal -- I could also go Croc hunting. 2 scales to 1 roc is cool with me. Anyway, get as much as you can and we'll see. I could give you up to 70 scales now and go hunting later, too. --Deva 16:11, 12 April 2006 (BST)
Ok, I need 19 rocs and 8 strings to reach lvl 8 now, so would you like to do this tomorrow sometime? I'll log in again tomorrow early in the night, so if you can be in a city trading post at about 21:00 gmt Duke Spud will come and drop you the 54 scales. Hey... do tuxedos always come with a bowtie? I don't think a bowtie could look cool -- does it also go with a regular tie? Maybe a shirt with a ruffled collar (is this how it's called?) would be cool. A bit goth, but cool :). --Deva 19:20, 17 April 2006 (BST)
<-- (for space) -- I think he lost his bowtie in one of the first bars on the Pub Crawl.  :) I picture a tuxedo shirt with a ruffled front (like a pirate shirt), an open collar, and the One Bling hanging around his neck. (Maybe a necklace with a jeweled "1"?) No bowtie, I agree. These are just ideas, of course!  :)
21:00 GMT is 4:00 PM EDT, I believe - will be very bad for me today. It will be, like, 03:00 GMT at least before I expect to be on-line again. And I need to grab another couple of things before I see you. If you can, pick a trading post in any city, leave a note here where you are, and wait for me. I will drop the stuff off when I late tonight, and wait for Spud to give me scales. -- Sertularian 13:09, 18 April 2006 (BST)
ok, I'm parked at the earth city trading post at 97E 5N. I'll be pulling an all nighter here and travelling in the morning, so I'll check once at 4:00-4:20 gmt and then I'll have to leave, so if we haven't done it until then I will be online again after 20 gmt or so. --Deva 20:23, 18 April 2006 (BST)
I stopped by the Trading Post and gave Spud 19 Roc Rocks and 8 Triffid Stings. I'm hanging out for today, so I should be there now. I'll have to think about the other adventurers in the tavern, but they should be, you know, Cities adventurers.  :P As for the fire sword, I was thinking about it last night - Not entirely red, but maybe a ruby in the hilt? Please improvise... I like the picture so far! That's pretty much the pose I had in mind. -- Sertularian 07:05, 19 April 2006 (BST)
Ok, the trade is complete. I drew a tarot deck on the table and a chair and oh, I drew the table :). I haven't really touched the character yet -- need more sketches. Anyway, easter holiday, parents' house -- I hope I can get a workflow here, but I won't be surprised if I don't :( . Oh, did I mention that the full version of it will be printable in nice quality on half an A4? -- Oh, a I just saw that first message that said something about 3 or 4 hours of work :) This wasn't really the case :( --Deva 19:20, 19 April 2006 (BST)

ping? -- Sertularian 04:57, 30 April 2006 (BST)

kha-bang! --Deva 11:08, 1 June 2006 (BST)
Pokey sticks rock. You do, too! -- Sertularian 12:40, 1 June 2006 (BST)
Hey, have you checked your cities email lately? :) --Deva 14:42, 24 June 2006 (BST)
I finally had the time to sort out my cities identity issue, after spending weeks in monasteries trying to get the most of my real life. Anyway, Spud's dead and long live Deva. I also thought of a reward I might want. So, how much charcoal do you reckon that qualifies as a "(sic)load"? I hope it's lots, cause that's what I'll need. I can help gather wood. :)
I was thinking of somewhere along the lines of 1000, and some with the ancient wood I'm going to collect with my brand new copper axe  :) With that I think I'll also be able to give you back a good amount in units of black powder, too. Anyway, I'll see how the treeman hunt goes, and I'll start helping with the wood after that (if you tell me you need help, that is).
Hey, that was quick! Thanks! I'm at the New Trading Post in Windy city. Do you need any black powder?
Yeah, ok, beam me up!
so, what's with the cocktails? :)
Hey! I'm in need of charcoal and sunflowers - do you think you could help? What would you want for about 5000 charcoal? I can gather the wood, (I have said that before, haven't I?). Anyway, the sunflowers are not that important but I'd like to hear a deal for something like 100. Check out my inventory or ask me for any water or air aligned task (spud has kinda wandered off limbo for the christmas period :) ). I might have a lot of short string based stuff soon, too.

Thank you, I shall indeed enjoy the AP, but more so the stones teleport for 1AP. I managed to get a wizards hat for twenty eight hours or so earlier this week, which was fun, I might have to go looking for one again now I have had the pleasure... :) But first, the final couple of crocodile scales and then it is off to hard knocks. Hi Sertularian, in good ole Europe we use a . (period) to indicate digits in thousands. Mind when I revert your last change in the Quest Quickreference?

You crazy Europeans. No, I don't mind; thanks for asking! -- Sertularian 12:20, 25 April 2006 (BST)

Thx :-) At least we should keep it consistent. Peskil 20:04, 25 April 2006 (BST)

user talk Chop chop. Much discussion about triffids, the sun moon and stars (awwww), gas, and that crazy hermit. No, the other one.

More cleaning. Pirate treasure and Dragon Stones, arrrr, matey! A happy ending or two, and conversation regarding one Golden Sickle. Also, discussion of a fraudulent ninja who wears sweatpants and has a combover. Hehe.

Yay! Thank you for the summons. I would certainly be happy to grow you some plums, should you need them -- I have two baskets in inventory at the moment, and enough beans. -- Celane 01:16, 10 June 2006 (BST)

I had no idea you were Luke Skywalker. -- Celane 16:22, 17 June 2006 (BST

Run away! Run awayyyyy! ... I almost made a character 'of Sandwich' this morning with intent to promote it eventually to Earl, but abstained. This game eats too much of my time anyway. ^^ -- Celane 00:26, 28 June 2006 (BST)

Cool, thanks. I will have to get some. -- Celane 18:50, 8 July 2006 (BST)

If you have that many, I will be happy to take a pair off your hands! As to the Animal Farm, I can't quite recall. (I think you feed immediately, but then again, maybe not.) I can give you at least two baskets of plums over at the park bench this evening, though, just in case. Also, be sure to have enough AP to feed the baby at least twice for each feeding -- mine spit almost every time. -- Celane 20:52, 8 July 2006 (BST)
Cool, head over there any time. I'm headed there now. I don't know, I have this premonition I'm getting a baby bear...  :S -- Sertularian 20:58, 8 July 2006 (BST)
Ps. Thank you for the sword.  :D -- Celane 09:05, 10 July 2006 (BST)

Did you start the Animal Farm quest yet? -- Celane 13:57, 15 July 2006 (BST)

How sad. Ah well, perhaps you'll manage to spend a three-day weekend near a wifi spot, or something. Let me know if/when you need those plums (notice is good). -- Celane 22:33, 18 July 2006 (BST)
Not a total fix, but I set cache size to 0 mb, and have had far fewer problems ever since. If you're getting the problem too then it may well be serverside. I didn't start getting it until about a month ago. -- Celane 00:02, 19 July 2006 (BST)

Heinlein Book Project

I've got my hands on a few surplus Heinlein books (Rocket Ship Galileo, The Rolling Stones). If you have surplus of any of the following books in your list, we could trade; I plan on being at open mic on Sunday (even if it does cost me my Wizard's Hat :), so we can swap reading materials then.

  1. a Copy of Between Planets
  2. a Copy of The Star Beast
  3. a Copy of Tunnel in the Sky
  4. a Copy of Podkayne of Mars
  5. a Copy of The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress

The rest of them I've got (visiting the North had some side benefits apart from the raw quest items ...). I'm trying to get a full collection too - perhaps I should try finishing some of these quests instead of randomly going off here and there ...

If you don't have surplus, I'd love to read some of the missing books - I've got my own reading glasses. I'd even be willing to give you something as a thanks (still need that gas for yer lantern?).

Forgot to sign it, silly me ... Soren 23:57, 8 July 2006 (BST)

Hello, you may have noticed that my Dragon is about to turn of age, and she's looking for a partner. Now, as you know, dragons are very distinguished animals, and in choosing a partner, size is really not their primary concern. However I am not that subtle, and Fanuilh happens to be one of the two males with the RVV gene on the seventh position. Would you like to introduce our dragons to each other ?--Solune 12:56, 19 December 2008 (GMT)

You'll be happy to know that "Unnamed until their sex is identified", Fanuilh and Ethelinda's wyrmling was born at 3pm on 30/01/09. He's proving to be a tough one, having 60 base damage.--Solune 19:08, 30 January 2009 (GMT)

Beam me up, Scotty!! (OzFest sounds cool)

The 3 Records + Wand of Convincing Illusion, it's all yours now!! And the Summon Stone has been returned as well.
Burning Man is very cool too!! I'm definitely enjoying it.
I'm beaming myself to the memorial library in 6 hours, after that I still have to put the books back in. But I should manage to give it back by tomorrow.
All is done and well.

:-D Thanks for noticing my peaceful alt. And he really is a non-combatant. If Calm Breeze ever turns up in a kills list, it'll be because someone else has cracked my password. :-) He won't even say a Parrot's name (even though that technically makes them happy) because it's considered a kill by the game.

But I'll tell you this: it is so AP-demanding having to go everywhere by Clock of Invisiblity. When he started out, he couldn't even afford a Cloak (but he'll be upgrading soon enough). Check out his inventoryto see just how poor he is at the moment (admittedly with several thousand Gold waiting at the markets now from selling the Time and Space free weapons).

One major long term goal is to be able to contribute usefully to society by crafting items and selling them at a reasonable price. This will require careful trading to get any of the raw materials that only come from monster drops, and completion of the alignment initiation quests. Which means his medium term goal is to get sufficient XP to be Knighted without defeating monsters. That's tricky.

Fun fact: Although he hasn't mentioned it in his journal, Calm Breeze is afraid of Vampires. This is ever since whilst sneaking around with his Clock of Invisibility, a Vampire looked straight at him and winked. I expect that he'll get himself some Garlic on the sly but not ever mention his fears.

Your offer to take care of Fluffy is greatly appreciated, and accepted! She's mostly been eating steak since she got all big, but she likes mutton too. Would you like several dozen steaks to help with the feeding? Oh, and name the time and trading post I can deliver them to. -Scrumbucket 01:07, 9 September 2007 (BST)

The Spring Cleaning Contest has lured me back to Cities. I doubt I'll even place, but it'll sure be fun trying. Would it be convenient to arrange Fluffy's return some time before the contest starts? We also need to arrange some compensation for your time and services. I really appreciate you taking care of her for me while I was away! -Scrumbucket 21:41, 2 October 2007 (BST)

Not to worry, I go through weapons fast enough that I can afford to patronise the Guild and the Smithy. :) -Scrumbucket 17:10, 11 January 2008 (GMT)

Thank you for the offer. I have joined the party and passed the envelope to you. Hope it's a good one! harvestbird 20:23, 30 January 2007 (GMT)

Hi there--summon Mrs. Gideon when and where you wish. I usually check my alts in the morning and evening, so can pass Weatherwax over to you as soon as I log on. harvestbird 07:14, 5 June 2008 (BST)

Weatherwax is now with you. I notice you were rehoming a sea horsie recently. Do you by any chance have a male sea horsie available at stud? I am keen to keep the rarer breeds going and would be interested in mating one with Beata, Sgt. Duke harvestbird's winged horsie who came from a pwny egg. harvestbird 08:59, 6 June 2008 (BST)
Thank you; harvestbird has summoned you to the KOT trading post for a rendezvous between Beata and Fritz! harvestbird 08:05, 7 June 2008 (BST)

Howdy--just to let you know that Beata has foaled the Pwny sired by Fritz (which I have called H2Whoa!). Time will tell whether it's a maritime offspring or not. Now that I have bred several pwnies I have retired my game alts for the moment, the better to run a stables under the name of harvestbird. One question though: how do I set up a new page off my userpage on the wiki? This knowledge is all that stands in the way of me and a horsie empire. harvestbird 05:41, 6 July 2008 (BST)

Thanks very much indeed for the template instructions. I shall potter around on the page when I have a moment. Hopefully H2Whoa! will be a sea horsie and can be bred back to some earlier sea horsie lines. I quite like the idea of being a 'flies and floats' specialty stables. harvestbird 06:00, 8 July 2008 (BST)

Thank you of the offer of the generous donation of Elmer to the harveststables. I'd be delighted to accept. Shall harvestbird meet you in-game at the Old Trading Post in Fire City? Let me know if that suits. harvestbird 08:04, 13 July 2008 (BST)

H2Whoa! is a Winged Horsie! I think the sex is male but the game code seems to have been altered so that the option to breed with pregnant horsies is no longer visible. As my only mare is pregnant, I'm not 100% sure. However, if you have any opinions on possible gene detailing, I'd welcome them! harvestbird 07:30, 2 September 2008 (BST)

ETA I'm looking at my pedigrees and thinking that if H2Whoa! is a winged horsie then Fritz must be WW and not WE? (You'll know better than I if I'm wrong or not; I only have fifth form genetics :) ). harvestbird 07:41, 2 September 2008 (BST)

Beata has just foaled so I have been able to check H2Whoa!'s sex and can confirm he is a stallion. harvestbird 07:09, 17 September 2008 (BST)

A small favour to ask: Are you in the region of the pentacle at Earth City in the next while? I ask because, due to feeding miscalculations, I have a goose who is elite but dead. She doesn't add much in battle but I have a sentimental attachment to her. I wondered if you might be willing to revive her for me. I can provide a Frankenwiener Spell if you wish--I'll just need to pop west to the Southern Market and pick one up. harvestbird 08:31, 21 February 2009 (GMT)

Many thanks! Gonnerill's feathery corpse is now atop the Wyrm Treasure Pile and I am back at the pentacle in Earth City. harvestbird 03:49, 22 February 2009 (GMT)

You do realise if you map the Taxing Cellar, it will make you a bigger legend. Actually, it won't, but I find that highly admirable and noble to you if you succeeded. :)

Thanks for the congratulations. Just got back from my honeymoon and am looking forward to spending the AP my friends managed to accumulate for me! :)

How did you know I got promoted to Sergeant?! ... And thanks! :P Rhapsodie 07:15, 22 November 2007 (GMT)

Ah, ok. I don't have an IRC thingy (client) installed currently so I didn't know that! Neat! Rhapsodie 06:31, 23 November 2007 (GMT)

Thanks for the summon! I summoned you to return the stone, and just as I clicked the go button I realised I hadn't checked if you were actually at the party or not. I hope I didn't massively inconvenience you! :( Rhapsodie 02:20, 22 January 2008 (GMT)

Phew! Rhapsodie 05:59, 22 January 2008 (GMT)

Do you have a list anywhere of how you've set up your spellbooks? I have a new shaman and am trying to nut out the best way to set everything up! Rhapsodie 23:02, 18 February 2008 (GMT)

Thanks - you are my hero! The only problem I have is that I skipped straight from Apprentice to Shaman, so I can't enchant level one spellbooks anymore. I figure seeing as it's going to cost me for a level 2 book, I might as well mix the two up... Rhapsodie 06:22, 19 February 2008 (GMT)

New question for you. My mare, Billomina, is going to be available to breed again in about a week. I was hoping to breed her with a chestnut Sea Horsie. Would you be willing to let me borrow Fritz for the purpose? Rhapsodie 09:21, 8 April 2008 (BST)

I am at the Trading Post in Earth City (97E 5N) if you wanted to swing past and trade me Fritz so he and Billomina can spend some quality time together. ;) Alternatively, if that's inconvenient, I don't have a hat on so you can summon me to another trading post that suits you better if you like - I can return the stone afterwards! Rhapsodie 05:28, 12 April 2008 (BST)
I stole your spellbook design, so that's entirely reasonable! Rhapsodie 08:51, 14 April 2008 (BST)

Close - Bill is WF but Billomina could still be anything (alas!) - she could have the W gene and just have not passed it on. Onyxia has to be FE or FA (couldn't get FF because Billomina can't have it to pass on). I am starting to think that Billomina is EE but if that's the case I can't ever prove it. :( Rhapsodie 08:47, 30 April 2008 (BST)

Hey, Sert! When jpv sequenced his pets, we discovered that Enigma couldn't be Mystery's child (because Enigma is a CC Chestnut and Mystery doesn't carry the C gene). Turns out both Enigma and Jupiter were born at the same time and jpv guessed which was which. I'm updating the pedigree pages, but seeing as both are Fritz's offspring, you'll need to update your papers too. Sorry! -- Rhapsodie 10:59, 3 August 2008 (BST)

Wow, I've written too many comments on your page! But I have a proposal for you: Ragamoffyn is a pure-bred winged horsie. That means that if she mates with Fritz or Finn (both of which are out of Foam), the result is a guaranteed AW Winged Horsie. She's pregnant at the moment, but would you be interested? I don't mind whether it's Frtiz or Finn - just let me know! :) Rhapsodie 07:31, 9 August 2008 (BST)

Just a quick note to let you know that I was about to start transitioning my papers across to your template. But because of the way it's set up I have to add all the extra horsies to your stables (or the "View" function doesn't work). Hope that's ok! Rhapsodie 00:02, 7 October 2008 (BST)

PS It's all going swimmingly, except I can't get Fang's page to work properly. Hypnos doesn't want to play! :( Rhapsodie 00:44, 7 October 2008 (BST)

Hiya! Been spending all afternoon playing with the pedigree templates for horsies, and almost finished transferring everything across - with one exception: Maus. Because of the silly level of inbreeding, the template won't display properly - I think it needs to be a Gen6 template, but I assume you haven't set one of those up? Not sure how to fix it - any ideas? :( -- Rhapsodie 07:22, 3 January 2009 (GMT)

Me again. I was wondering, did the four pwnies that we bred out of Friday several months ago (here} ever get pedigree pages made up? I was going to add them to Friday's offspring page! :) Rhapsodie 01:53, 25 April 2009 (BST)

Yeah, I saw he went home for that party. I don't have a plethora of Northern Rocks to experiment with so I guess I'll just wait to hear back from him on specifics when he returns. Thanks for the heads up, though. 16:50, 14 October 2007 (BST)

More Catanas

So, for some odd reason I have a hankering for more Earth Aligned Catanas (even though I've barely used the ones you've made me in the past). I guess it's always better to be prepared. I have 12 un-aligned Catanas right now; I know you're always looking to acquire more of them so you can stock your shop with the other alignments. I'm also looking to acquire some Entangled Fleece. Can you let me know what the costs would be? Thanks! 18:12, 13 March 2008 (GMT)

Sounds right; goodies given. I threw in those other two items because it looked like you were just short of building your own. I'll be hanging around the Pentacle for a while since my hat got nicked. 23:06, 13 March 2008 (GMT)

Congrats on becoming a M.A.! Don't anyone ever tell you can't give more than 100%. I think you're the first to wrap up all the quests; maybe that will spur DS on to implement Reactive Armour or whatever else is brewing. 03:29, 14 May 2008 (BST)

I need a place to keep this, so I've made some space for you, Vashka. -- Sertularian 14:56, 23 November 2007 (GMT)

This is just a ploy to get me to post on your talk page, isn't it? Wwoowo! Vashka 15:12, 23 November 2007 (GMT)

Hi - when / where did you want to take delivery of the bulk items? Let me know... Phw 20:46, 4 February 2008 (GMT)

Responded via PAYG to your proposal of horsie on horsie monkey business. In case you don't catch the Topeka reference, here's a link to read up. It's a great flick if you ever get the chance. --Tiltowait 13:44, 5 May 2008 (BST)

Your stable wiki is really impressive. Recognizing most of the names listed, it demonstrates exactly how inbred all of our horsies truly are. It's a good thing the DLs haven't coded in degenerative genetic horsie disorders. I'm signed up for Fetus (Billomina), for example. I knew the sire was Fritz, but didn't connect Fritz to you. We apparently share a common interest in collecting horsies. Despite my deep abiding outrage at the perceived slight of a guild toll gladly paid and the resulting worldwide manhunt, I'd be pleased to work with you in the future toward further propagating the horsie species.

I did get your message, but meeting up in a trading post so you could pet sit for me was too easy a way to complete my 2k quest ;) Rhapsodie agreed to help me out while I'm out next week. I told her you might be contacting her about Bullseye, so just PAYG her directly. Sort of strange, I have to find sitters for pets in the real world *and* in Cities; life seemed so much simpler in the '80s... --Tiltowait 13:59, 15 May 2008 (BST)

Yes, she is a pure dragon, and she is available if you want to adopt her (or is it be adopted by her?). Maybe that will make Fanuilh more inclined to like her. :) -- Caelicoli 00:46, 1 April 2010 (BST)

Worm Torso

I'm currently feeding and exercising Worm Torso (the name was an anagram of Stoorworm, if you're curious). --Greycat 02:20, 8 May 2010 (BST)

Freyja says, she thinks "Worm Torso is a really hawt name, and she would like to get busy with that hawtness." Hey, I'm just repeating what she said. (Please check your Palantir.) -- Sertularian 03:05, 8 May 2010 (BST)
