Recently Acquired

Alongside the Quick Draw and Recently Used, add a third section for items that have been acquired in the last couple of turns. This would cut down a lot on popping into the inventory.
Currently, you get a mysterious envelope, you then have to go and find it in your inventory to open it, you then have to find the treasure map in your inventory to see where it is. Instead each would appear in the Recently Acquired section.

Show Mana cost in cast button

Since Mana is more like AP than like reagents, it should be shown in the button with AP instead of the list with reagents. In particular, this would help one such as I remember that the mana cost doubles when forcing spells, which is currently not indicated. Incen 15:54, 8 April 2009 (BST)

Fashion/other properties icons

Could the inventory display fashion icons next to items which grant fashion? There's quite a lot of blank space in each line of the inventory at the moment, and it strikes me this might be a good use of it. There may be other useful properties which could also be indicated with icons like this, e.g. "this item provides warmth", "this item affects movement cost", "this item is sticky"? - Invisible 17:07, 16 February 2009 (GMT)

Cutting Corners

Eight extra movement icons that allow diagonal movement. It should save time/pageloads, but the AP cost is the same as if you walked along the two paths normally. If there's a monster in the way, the icon could be replaced with an "attack" icon, or just not show up at all. - Isambard 08:46, 22 December 2008 (GMT)

Can we have an onfocus="select()" on the RA section's inputs? This would cut down on people timewarping 17 times instead of 7, and similar accidents. Incen

Show pet hunger % in Inventory

Now that I've got a few pets, it would be VERY nice if the hunger % would show in the inventory list/"in hand" item selection drop down list - kind of like the "to hit %" shows for weapons. That way, when cities is being slow it wouldn't take 10 minutes for me to put each and every pet into the current slot just so I can check the hunger %. I wouldn't even care if it was off by a couple percent, just to get an idea of who is getting really hungry and close to eating something expensive :D. For people with LOTS of pets, perhaps putting the ones below 50%/within 5% of autoeating in different colors? Gimlet 05:28, 24 August 2008 (BST)

Item order in Sorting Office/Bags

Current Spell Effects

Keep item equipped when you transform

When you transform into something, like a dragon, a combat wombat, a werewolf, ect., items you have equipped should stay equipped, but not do anything. This way, people who have, say, fashion stuff equipped who turn in to a werewolf, but forget to log in 2 hours later to re-equip stuff, don't miss out on bonus AP. It would also make things much more convenient in general. - Cameron

Bury dead pets first

The Pet Cemetary should sort pets according to their hunger level, dead pets on top. That way one can use the button masher to dump larger piles of dead mayflies without leaving behind valuable livestock. Flt 15:13, 25 November 2007 (GMT)

Pets Pecking Place Pickability Option

I have several pets. Loki, my Ferret, hits 70% of the time. My pwny, Up, is brand new, and only hits 10% of the time. If I'm hunting crocs for instance with my Daemonic Great Sword (72x2=144 damage), I want to kill them in one swing. Loki will usually take that croc out for me, and Up never gets a chance to try helping out. Pets sort alphabetically by type.

It would be great if I could organize my attack. In this case, I would have Up try (and fail) to hit the croc and then Loki clean up afterwards. Up would at least get a chance at gaining XP, and I wouldn't have to pick Loki up and then take another swing at the croc myself after Up misses the beastie.

Recipe Book to Act like Spell Book

Is there any way the recipe book can act like spell books as far as listing which items you have in your inventory and which are still required for the item to be constructed? Currently, all items in the recipe book are in bold letters while, for spell books, only the items not currently in your inventory are in bold. Snare 02:21, 6 September 2007 (BST)

"Select All" in Sorting Office

So I just took 5-10 minutes to drop my entire inventory into a bag in the Sorting Office (prep for moving a vault's contents without mixing them up with my inventory). Any chance a "Select all" option could be added that would just enable all the checkboxes? That would speed things up immensely. -- Thog 16:03, 24 August 2007 (BST)

New inventory display option

It would be useful to people using spreadsheets to track what they need to gather if there could be an option to display the inventory in the layout used by bag contents ("item name x quantity" instead of "quantity item names"). That would make parsing stuff a whole heck of a lot easier (especially since the same formula could then be used for both). (It would also reduce the simplification table to just the exceptional names rather than having to convert each item from plural to singular.) --BlaisedeC 15:08, 11 July 2007 (BST)

Master Armourer Backgrounds

The background for a Master Armourer makes it somewhat hard to read their name (since it's black text on a dark gray background. Any chance the text can be changed to white or something else that shows up better? -- Thog 19:17, 3 July 2007 (BST)

The text is actually off-white (a bit pinkish, actually)--but if you're wearing fashion it seems to override that and default to black again. (Shamans are similar.) --Dragon 01:55, 4 July 2007 (BST)

recovery of the body: possibly dying in this way would generate a treasure map somewhere? "you gain a treasure map of bernie the moron" or require scuba gear to recover the corpse. I'm all for making it difficult to get your corpse back in this case; it takes a special kind of cleverness to get stuck in a lake anyway, and besides most non-swimming, non-insured players probly have not much loot to begin with. League Tables

  1. If I share a #1 spot in a league with another player but am listed second, that league is not highlighted on the top-level league list. Could we change it so all of a player's #1 spots are highlighted even if shared? implemented
  2. Notification in the UI when a player gains or loses a rank (or just the #1 spot) in the monster leagues (or possibly any league) would be very nice, especially if you've got a number of leagues you're trying to stay on top of.
  3. If a player can distinguish between the various snakes in the field, can we please let them distinguish on the monster tables without having to hover over the link or calculate the name from where it falls on the list? This would make me very very happy.

Password Change

I can find no obvious method for changing the password for my character in the game. I can change the pw for my acct on the wiki; but not in the game itself. I am far more paranoid about some malicious malcontent hijacking my character than i am of someone editing the wiki under my name.

Besides which, i'm sure there are some players out there (not me of course) who used a really dumb password when they first joined, under the rather stupid assumption that they would not be spending a lot of irl AP on this game.

I knew i was in trouble the day i saw my soul listed as inventory in cities.

Large Groups

Would it be possible for "vehicles" (e.g. Air Ships, Magic Carpets, etc) to be, optionally, displayed without showing who is aboard them and then having a mouse over to show who is aboard (like "Lots of People") ? markles 16:06, 20 February 2007 (GMT)

Foraging Quest on the 'Me' page

Automatic weapon select

When you summon a weapon (Impending kick/slap, tribble gun), it is not selected, so that you lose at least 5 seconds in selecting it and reloading the page. It would be nice if the weapon could be selected by default.--Solune 23:18, 9 January 2007 (GMT)

Speed mode

... for want of a better name. I've been reduced to not-very-broadband and am suddenly more interested in page load speed. A few things came to mind - the javascript seems to be static and could load via a SRC= attribute, for example - but the big win might be in having a mode where only the viewport is displayed - the control panel being hidden (and the html not sent). If you're running from A to B, you don't need it. For those with loaded-out inventories, this can give a 5k page rather than a 20k one, and the server-side processing of inventory items could probably be skipped or much reduced, lowering server load too.

Bonus feature: a clickable to get the control panel back.

Sort the Players List alphabetically upon Display on a Trading Post

You know, the list that you get next to the Give button on a Trading Post...

Totem Connections

I'm not sure how, but I appear to have lost my place in the chain of totems. It would be helpful if the 'Me' page would show:

  • The totem you most recently connected with (if you are just starting out, there will be no such totem), and
  • If one exists, the totem you need to get to (and, possibly, how long you have to connect to it).

For example

  • You last connected with the Salamander Totem.
  • You have 13 minutes to connect with the Water Dragon totem.

Toad Getting Licked Message

It seems that you'd notice people licking you. Perhaps "Eww, [someone] licked you" most of the time, and occasionally "[Someone] licked sorta liked it" JohnnyRogers 20:50, 27 October 2006 (BST)

i almost second that, except i find the inventory drop list far harder to navigate, though it makes sense, especially in battle. can we have an option to switch our inventory list to the simple alphabetical (market) style when its more convenient?

Full Heal

As an MD, it would be nice to have the option to heal another player fully. This would take the same amount of AP as clicking the "Heal" button the appropriate number of times, just without all the clicking. Sort of like a reverse "on call" request, but without the money. More Links to the Wiki

Specifically, I'd like to see change to the "Leagues: Monsters" table, where the monster names link to their respective descriptions in the wiki. Also, same for "Inventory" page. Just in general, I'd like to be able to go straight to descriptions in the wiki whenever feasible. I'd probably never think about it, but lately the wiki search engine seems broken for me, so i have to do alot of browsing just to learn about simple stuff -- 07:39, 12 August 2006 (BST).

Palantir messages during ap debt

Could there be an option to check our palantir messages while we have negative ap? I've got a message staring at me and I don't want to wait like six hours to see what it says, it may be time intensive. UI Tweak: remove the <br> from desert navigation hints

Just what it says on the tin: there's an extra carriage return for the "Safe!" and "Danger!" navigation hints in the Great Desert (these newlines can be highlighted), and it stretches the screen vertically. My poor 1024x768 display loses the bottom navigation buttons when there are multi-line players or creatures on the screen.

Cruel Buttons

When using the cruel blade, every monster is hostile. Would it be possible to allow for two serperate buttons to appear, one to attack and one to pass, at the same time? That way you don't have to constantly switch from cruel blade to another item just to get by worms. You could put both buttons side by side under the monster and that would give players the choice. Lots of People

I've been running around trying to heal people and I've found that what the map shows as "Lots of People" can be as few as three. Maybe have a number there too? or at least varying labels, such as "a few people" "large group of people" "huge angry mob" or whatever, depending on the number of people in a given square.

The "Lots of People" page element has a list of the people's names as a title. If you mouseover you should be able to see the first few names, which will at least tell you if there are only 3-6 people. I can see the full list by right-clicking "Lots of People" and selecting Properties; not sure how to do this in browsers other than Firefox but it's probably something similar. If the caption itself said "3 People" or "17 People" it would be less effort though.  :) --Dragon 07:02, 29 March 2006 (BST)

I note that it doesn't appear to be possible to see other people's player info (you can see your own at While this is probably deliberate, as it contains information other people are not supposed to be able to see without specific feats, a reduced page could be generated. Buy multiple copies of an item

As an addendum, "sell multiple copies of an item." Kudos History

It'd be nice to be able to see your kudos history over the last few days, and any messages other players have sent you while giving you kudos/dissing you. (Unless that is supposed to be a disadvantage compared to using palantirs for communication.)

Additions to score table

Pokey Stick

On-Call Doctors on a Busy Square

If there are a lot of people on a square, they will all collapse into a "Lots of People" list. Unfortunately, this means that if an on-call doctor is on that square, you can't request healing from them! I'm proposing that, in addition to the '+', that another 'Controls' sections show up on the left, something looking like this:


  • I like this idea but suggest that it also include badges and hyperlinks. It could be incorporated with the list of people that you can heal as a MD. Title it Lots of People and next to each name on the list would be icons: HP, On Call Cross, Badge, and the name would be blue if they had a hyperlink. This way you could select the name from the list and then it would appear where you have the Request Healing button as it dose on the map tile. That way all of the interactions that are available when you are alone on a map tile with someone could still be accessible but in a more compact fashion.--pestalinc 20:04, 12 March 2006 (GMT)

I was looking at the equipment menu when I noticed this, and looked at the "take off" buttons below it that didn't have (0AP) next to it. I remember seeing (0AP) in a couple other places, so why not just get rid of (0AP) and leave it blank like so many others?

Time Zone Issues

Several of the quests in the game require actions to be done at specific times. Several of these times, especially for those of us in different time zones, are quite a problem. We have limited AP partially to keep people from getting fired for playing all the time at work or stuff, right? I don't know about everyone else, but I know that staying up until four in the morning when I have class at 10am doesn't do anything happy for my performance in class. The same goes for when one of the required actions needs to take place while I'm in class. If I don't give in to the urge to skip, and I'm in the middle of a quest (such as the Guide to Time and Space) I don't really get to play all week until it hits the weekend. I'd like to suggest an option to wait and worship at the correct time (or feed in the case of the animal quest). I know these quests are made so that one has to put forth effort to get the reward, so to make up for the convenience (that just might make the quest possible as opposed to completely out of the question) maybe it could be made so that while you're waiting you don't gain any AP, or you don't gain as much AP, or you have to spend more, or something similar. That way you'd be spending a lot of AP to complete the quest, putting forth effort, but you wouldn't have to be there to click the button and so wouldn't have to set your alarm clock for 3am or skip class or work or anything. If there is management approval for it (and time, effort etc), this could even be an Item - a clockwork hand or somesuch - and when you activate it you could tell it how many accrued action-points to wait (just to make it annoying - and forcing the user to account for any AP modifiers that might be in effect for them), at which point it costs you 2* that number of AP and then waits for the approriate amount of action points to accrue and then presses the current location's action button. I'm not sure I understand why people should be penalized for using a "Wait for XXX" button or item. There's no real difference between going offline until the appropriate time and then doing the action and just clicking on the "Wait for XXX" button, which forces you off much as if you were out of AP.
