Blue Pill

Message: 'You feel well hard!' (for 20AP), then 'You feel hard!' (for 10 more AP), then 'You feel a bit soft' (back to normal).

Reduces (but does not eliminate) the chance that your "weapon" will "wear out" when you use it. (Nothing is quite as embarrassing as losing your "weapon" right when things are getting interesting!) This seems to apply to both "stabbing things", and just "clearing the jungle" on your own. If you're a "Glass Sword" kind of guy, though, even a Blue Pill can't help you....

Note that if you really need a lot of Blue Pill effect, taking another pill while you're already well-hard will grant 30 more well-hard AP, rather than 20 well-hard AP and 10 hard AP. It's only the last 10 AP of blue-pill effect that are merely hard.
And, for the statistically-minded, "well-hard" reduces your break rate to 1/3 of the normal rate, while "hard" reduces it to 1/2 of the normal break rate. This only applies to "normal" weapons; anything with a special break message, or any other special way of breaking, usually won't have the odds change at all. Boniface Potion

Cures Ear Infection. Made from Sprig of Rosemary and Pinch of Aniseed.

Brak Potion

Cures the double AP cost disease you can catch from the North-East Tunnels. Made from Sprig of Parsley and Ginger Root.

Chillwell Potion

Alleviates 100 AP of inebriation. Made from Cocoa Pod and Ginseng Root.

Clockwork Orange

Eat for 1AP. You feel like a real horrorshow for 250 AP. This includes everyone looking like Droogs, ittying instead of walking, and tolchocking instead of attacking.


Gained from bowling. Acts the same as a Fag, granting 8AP for 5HP cost.

Dharma Potion

Cures Frostbite. Made from Sprig of Sage and Mandrake Root.

Dose of Antidote

There is a 20% chance that a bat will drop it when slain. (Bats can be found in caves.) This can also be bought from Jude the Healer in Brighthelm, for 5000 gold. Upon completion of the Blue Flowers / Antidote quest, it can be made from two Blue Flowers and a Mana. Drinking will cure two levels of poisoning.

Dose of Magic Powder

Consume to get up to 150 AP (capped by your max AP). Lowers your Max HP and AP by 3 each, permanently! Removes all drunkness instantly. Possibly removes Kudos depending on your rating - "You Feel Naughty" (unverified)

You lose a Dose of Magic Powder.

Your maximum health points AND maximum action points just went down by 3. This stuff is real bad
for you.
  • Buy for 5000 Gold (or 3 for 10000 Gold) from a Wizard's Shop or 3000 gold (9000gp for 3) at the South Lanes in Brighthelm.
  • Listen to Tim singing in the Graveyard West of Fire City and he'll be so grateful that he'll sometimes give you a dose.

Dragon Blood

Has various effects at random (please give the actual message received):

  • Resets/gives Kudos? "You feel really good"

I'd like to see a way to get rid of this effect. Or more quests which can decrease AP regain time. Two bad dragon's blood's means that the game is much less fun. AP regain increase isn't an ingame penalty, it's more like a real world one. I agree that Dragon blood should have its downside, but there should be a challenge to get back what you've lost, instead of it just being a severe bummer. I agree with that. I haven't had any real bad effects yet, but I keep drinking it so I probably will eventually. Maybe there could be an effect that lowered the AP regen time by 1 minute, but only if you had gotten the one that raised it before or something. who knows. Jatt 18:38, 22 February 2006 (GMT)

If you saw a message like this:
You lose a Dragon Blood.
You feel stronger.
You are poisoned: -1 hit points.

I fully agree to that. You can lose 5% toHit and 1 Minute AP regeneration while you cant get that from Dragonblood. Shouldnt it be a reward to kill a dragon and drink his blood. Not a way to really mess your character up? Eldred 13:39, 25 October 2006 (BST)
One can mess up your AP regen by consuming too many triffid stings, and there is no way to reverse that either. If you could repeat the AP quests, what would stop a person from getting a regen rate of 30 seconds? Syagrius 17:01, 25 October 2006 (BST)

The letter E, from a dissolution spell. Also serves as ecstasy, acting like a Red Pill.


Acquired from Stoners in the Festival area if you offer them the use of your matches. A pack of ten, with which to confuse our transatlantic cousins.

  • Regain 8AP for 6HP cost.
  • 12.5% chance of reducing Max AP by 1 (*CHOUGH*) each time a Fag is smoked.
  • 12.5% chance of reducing Max HP by 1 (*WHEEZE*) each time a Fag is smoked.
Maybe I've had too many - I'm gaining 7AP for 5HP cost.

Gram of Spice

Obtained by killing Sand Worms, and can be eaten to increase AP. When eaten, all available spice (up to 12 grams) is consumed, and the total AP gain increases with the amount of spice eaten (so eating two spice at once gives you a greater gain than eating two spice one after the other).

  • 1 Gram of Spice = 50AP
  • 2 Grams of Spice = 110AP
  • 3 Grams of Spice = 180AP
  • 4 Grams of Spice = 260AP


  • 12 Grams of Spice = 1260AP (maximum number of grams consumable at once)

This appears to be AP = 5*s^2 + 45*s - or, possibly more simply, 5s(s+9).

Apparently spice consumption is variable, as I ate a gram today and recieved no effect. Nick has mentioned, IIReckonC, that one can gain a tolerance to this as well.

My second gram of spice gave no effect, and didn't show up on my "Me" page.

Yes, the "Me page" counts the number of times you have taken spice (since your last detox), not the number of grams.

Will the bonus AP gained from spice allow you to go over your limit?


The Master Thief considers spice to be food, and sometimes wants it for his lunch.

A stint at the Betty Fnord Clinic will reset your tolerance to spice and remove the tolerance number from your "Me page".

Lucky Strike

From the bowling alley. Smokeable. A brand of fag.

Mockwork Orange

Sorts with food. Eat it for 1AP.

Mmmmm, artificial.
You lose a Mockwork Orange.

All monsters are 'Mock' Name (and players are 'Moog' Name) and instead of 'moving', you 'silcone itty'.

Lasts at least 100AP. When the effect wears off, the message you get is:

The ringing in your ears stops.

N'gann Potion

As an Air Apprentice I got the message:
 You lose a N'gann Potion.
 You gain an Empty Vial.
 That didn't seem to do anything.

Potion of Accuracy

Increases to-hit by 3%. Requires an increasing number of doses for the effect. (One dose for the first 3%, an additional two doses for the second, three more for the third, and so on).

Can be drunk a maximum of 11 times (using 66 potions on the way). After that:

You've had all the benefit you can get from this potion.

Potion of Healing

Drink (for 1 AP) to restore all your HP.

Pouch of Magic Herb

Obtained from Dr. Karma or dropped by djinns. Costs 5AP to use, and gives the effect stoned for 100AP. Rotates your view 90 degrees every time you move, and drops your to-hit chance by 200% (at first). Reduces move costs to 1AP, regardless of terrain, cloaks, clocks, or boats.

The to-hit penalty is reduced as you spend AP; it doesn't stay at -200% the whole time. It may be -2% * (AP of "stoned" effect remaining), but this is unconfirmed.

Red Pill

Drops from Morpheus. Gives you +100AP. During 100 AP you feel lovely, then you feel like crap and every action takes twice the normal cost, and you will have a penalty to hit equal to the number of crappy AP remaining (i.e., starts at -200% to hit from your usual accuracy, and improves 1% per AP spent). You can hug people while you are on the pill (even yourself). Also, your character gets a [spang] after its name (which can only be seen by other players, not by the pill abuser). You feel like crap for 200AP (during which you can perform 100AP worth of actions). So this pill gives zero net AP gain, it just gives you 100 up front that you "pay back" later.

Upon initial consumption, the Red Pill detoxes you of all alcohol. It is not known if this is similar for other effects (poison, etc.) Azuaron 06:05, 6 June 2007 (BST)

Effects of Feeling Lovely: Hugging, variations in temperature, movement buttons and/or terrain going all wonky, Spangness

Effects of Feeling like Crap: Double AP Cost, to-hit plummets but improves with AP spent, hearing other people talking hurts your ears and you lose 1 HP.

You also cannot avoid feeling like crap; if you perform some hugely AP-chewing action just before the end of feeling lovely, you will begin feeling like crap (for the full duration) once that huge action has ended. If you perform a hugely AP-chewing action before the end of feeling like crap, though, you will suffer the double AP costs for the full action, not whatever portion of the action fell under the time period of feeling like crap. (e.g., if you have 4 AP of crap left, and perform a 200-AP action, it will still cost you 400 AP.) You also cannot avoid the effects of feeling like crap by consuming another red pill; you will immediately start feeling lovely again, but the feeling-like-crap duration will simply be longer once the second red pill wears off. Similarly, if you consume two red pills in a row, then you will feel like crap for 400 AP. (Untested: does dying make you no longer feel like crap?)


A traditional dwarven treat, apparently consisting mostly of gravel. Obtained by mining. Can eat for 1 AP:

You feel sort of healthy. Hiho, hiho...

Eating apparently gives +5HP and +3 to your Mining Costs bonus for 50AP. Eating multiple scones doesn't improve the bonus further, but simply adds another 50AP onto this time.

After 10 minings...

You're fed up of whistling that song.

and your Mining Costs return to normal.

Shanghorn Potion

Made from Mandrake Root and Spring of Mint. Cures 100AP worth of Everything's Spinning. Doesn't work on the spinning associated with the Pouch of Magic Herb.

Strange Powder

Gives you 150AP at a cost of 5 max HP, and also makes you wired. While you are wired, you have damage multiplier increased by 2 and every monster is hostile. You remain wired for 150AP, then you start feeling like crap. While you feel like crap, AP costs for everything are doubled, and you have a to-hit penalty that starts at -300% and improves by 1% for each AP spent. (Coffee doesn't help.) So after you spend 300AP feeling like crap – doing 150AP worth of work – you should be back to normal.

So the net effects are:

  1. Time-shifting 150AP so you get it now instead of later
  2. +2 damage multiplier for a duration of 150AP
  3. screwed-up to-hit for 150AP worth of actions after that
  4. -5 max HP.
Stay away from this stuff. I had some at a rave at the Clubhouse (yes, already hammered, that's how it happens), and now, I feel like crap! Not only does coffee not work, nor does drinking more, and a Dose of Antidote gives the message, "that was a total waste!" Good buzz while it lasted though. Dendrast 03:50, 23 October 2006 (BST)

ok this stuff is really harsh, so I've upped the bonus. It now gives double damage. This is applied after all other modifiers. That's really very pokey. I might nerf it down again later... Triffid Sting

This entry only contains information with regard to the Triffid Sting as a consumable item. See the Weapons page for information on using it as a weapon.

Dropped by Triffids. In fact, they sometimes drop two!

You cannot die from poisoning. "You are almost dead from poison." It'll drop you down to one HP and leave you there.

Your Triffid Sting consumption count cannot be reset by any means, just like the consumption of Dragon Blood.

  • Each hit gives you 50AP and the message:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH. That really stung.
  • The first 5 hits give you one level of poison.
  • From hit 6 and onward; you'll receive N-4 levels of poison (N being the Nth hit).
  • Hit 10 also gives you the message
More will do some real damage!
  • Hit 11 also gives you the message
You're on the edge, mate. Stop this now. I'm warning you!!
  • From hit 12 and onward; your AP regen time will be slowed down by one minute! Message:
I warned you. AP regen time +1 minute!!!

Vitsee Potion

Cures the hallucination illness that you can catch from the North-East Tunnels. Made from Sprig of Oregano and Vanilla Pod.
