Moving Maps
Big Map
The Big Map gives an overview of the terrain surrounding you as a 15x15 grid. No information is given other than terrain type. Very useful for making your own permanent maps.
Cost 12000 Gold from Maps to the Stars and Bars in the Windy City.
There are rumours of a time long gone, a time when the balance between city and machina was still finding new places to ebb and flow, a time when Big Maps could see a third again further in every direction. Many are convinced that these rumours are just talk from the old folk, once more grumbling about how much better things were when they were young.
Magic Map
Dropped by a Djinn. Has a cursor that identifies terrain.
Map
When selected, an 11x11 mini-map of terrain is shown. A clear improvement over a Small Map, but not as good as a Big Map.

- 1 Map needed in making a Survey Vessel.
- Movement cost while held?
- An additional 2 AP, I believe. Walking on a road while using a Map costs me 3 AP.
Why on earth would you hold it while moving?
- By mistake :(
- I've been doing it a lot lately, because it is convenient to be always aware of what is coming up, and not having to stop every four or five steps to re-activate it, then put it away. Incidentally, when geocaching, I very frequently have my GPS unit out in my hand all the time, and that's in Real Life. --Hotchpotch 02:17, 18 February 2006 (GMT)
- I love geocaching. fun times. by the way, once you get your movement modifier decreased from the Time and Space Quest, you can walk around through normal terrain with it out for no extra AP! yay! Jatt 18:44, 22 February 2006 (GMT)
- Of course, that's purely a function of the modifier; if you hold the map while crossing particularly difficult terrain, you'll start noticing the difference again. Handy, though. macksting 21:03, 31 May 2006 (BST)
