(Need to confirm its real in-game name as I get this from the build.xml).

A component for making a Rig.

In Real Life(TM), you put it under a record to protect your turntable when you're scratching or holding the record on cue.

Speaker

A component for making a Rig.

Folk Instruments

See Band Tryouts for musical discussion. It costs 30AP to play an instrument initially; further practices take 5AP. However, if you have been lazy with your music practise (how many days?), it'll take 20AP to get familiar with your instrument again. Practising gives the message "You're improving" and tells you how musically talented you are. It also indicates whether you're playing your "natural" instrument (which depends on alignment).

Accordion

Musical instrument especially suited to earth-aligned players. Check out Band Tryouts for more info and discussion.

Fiddle

Musical instrument especially suited to fire-aligned players. Check out Band Tryouts for more info and discussion.

Harmonica

Musical instrument especially suited to air-aligned players. Check out Band Tryouts for more info and discussion.

Pan Pipes of Peace

Obtained by participants who didn't play solos at the Open Mic Night at the Fiddling Wizard. Attack with them to pacify a monster. One use only.

Tambourine

Musical instrument especially suited to water-aligned players. Check out Band Tryouts for more info and discussion.

Triangle

Available from the Fiddling Wizard Folk Club in Windy City. Playable by anyone, but rather boring. (I doubt you can impress monsters with this one).

Folk Instruments and Open Mic Nights

Open Mic Nights are held sporadically at the Fiddling Wizard Folk Club in Windy City. Watch the wiki Conversation and Current Events page for Open Mic Nights announcements.

First Open Mic Night Reward

You can play music to monsters by hitting them with an instrument. If you played solo on the first Open Mic Night, Great Lord Yendor would have taught you his grandmother's song that can pacify monsters:

You attack the Badger.
You play soothing music on the Fiddle.
The Badger is lulled by the music.

Otherwise, the monster won't be impressed even if you are a very talented player. (This is from a water player who is very talented with a Tambourine):

You attack the Rabbit.
You play the Tambourine.
The Rabbit doesn't seem impressed.
The Rabbit misses you.

The instruments are breakable when used against monsters.

Second Open Mic Night Reward

If you played solo on the second Open Mic Night, Great Lord Yendor would have tought you a folk song from across the southern ocean. This gives you the ability to "Rock Out (2AP)" with your instrument in the keys of A, C, E, and F.

This affects the monsters surrounding you depending on the key you use and their alignment:

(Key) Note: A = Air, C = Water (C-Water - get it?), E = Earth, F = Fire
Key Earth Air Fire Water Neutral
A Halfhearted Enthusiastic Halfhearted Out of tune Halfhearted
C Halfhearted Halfhearted Out of tune Enthusiastic Halfhearted
E Enthusiastic Out of tune Halfhearted Halfhearted Halfhearted
F Out of tune Halfhearted Enthusiastic Halfhearted Halfhearted

In key A:

You play folk rock on the Fiddle.
The Pheonix (gen. 12) joins in halfheartedly. - earth-aligned
The Crocodile seems to think you're out of tune.
The Llama joins in halfheartedly.
The Penguin seems to think you're out of tune.
You gain a Gold Piece.

In key C:

You play folk rock on the Fiddle.
The Pheonix (gen. 12) joins in halfheartedly. - earth-aligned
The Crocodile joins in enthusiastically.
The Llama joins in halfheartedly.
The Penguin joins in enthusiastically.
You gain 5 Gold Pieces.

In key E:

You play folk rock on the Fiddle.
The Pheonix (gen. 12) joins in enthusiastically. - earth-aligned
The Crocodile joins in halfheartedly.
The Llama joins in halfheartedly.
The Penguin joins in halfheartedly.
You gain 6 Gold Pieces.

In key F:

You play folk rock on the Fiddle.
The Pheonix (gen. 12) seems to think you're out of tune. - earth-aligned
The Crocodile joins in halfheartedly.
The Llama joins in halfheartedly.
The Penguin joins in halfheartedly.
You gain 2 Gold Pieces.

Other notes:

When a fire-aligned rock troll thought I was out of tune, it suddenly became hostile. It wouldn't let me pass when it joined in enthusiastically, however.

An amount of gold pieces are got.. A certain percentage of the surrounding monsters' gold for each of "enthusiastically" and "halfheartedly"?

If you played along (not solo) at the 2nd open mic night, you would also learn to 'Rock Out'. However, you can't select which key you can play in. Even after lots of practising to improve your skills to 'rock', it still would not improve your folk rock skills to be able to rock in different keys.
